Concerts SA Calling all Music Professionals🎤!

Concerts SA is offering Mobility Subsidies of up to R45,000 for live music tours across southern Africa!

We and our partners are passionate about sustaining cultural work and helping live music circuits thrive. Our partners include SAMRO, the Festival Enterprise Catalyst (FEC), and the National Treasury's Jobs Fund.

SAMRO Members: Have You Checked The Unclaimed Royalties Portal Recently?

Since starting this project in April 2021 - June 2023, SAMRO has paid over R 22 million to members who updated their banking details. For FY2024 alone, SAMRO has paid over R 14 million, bringing the total payout to over R 36 million.

The Unclaimed Royalties platform was launched in November 2022 to simplify and improve the pay-out process for unclaimed royalties resulting from incorrect or outdated banking details.

SAMRO strongly encourages members to update their banking details regularly to ensure timely royalty payments.

How did we do it?

A new in-house distribution system, implemented in 2023, has significantly enhanced efficiency by streamlining processes, eliminating delays, and addressing data backlogs. For FY2024, SAMRO distributed 99% of the foreign royalties collected to its members!

The new in-house system can now run multiple foreign distribution runs and has increased operational efficiency, ensuring faster and more accurate payments.

Save the date! SAMRO has partnered with Basadi In Music Awards (BIMA) to host the Business of Music Workshop at Joburg Theatre on 09 April 2024.
This partnership is based on SAMRO's 2021 study on Women's Rights and Representation in South Africa's music industry, revealing that only 18% of active music creators are women.

SAMRO and BIMA are committed to empowering women and promoting gender equality, and this will be the third workshop in a series of informative programs.
