SAPS this morning bid a final farewell to Sgt Mario Nel who was killed in the line of duty.
The officer, 40, was fatally shot & killed by a suspect in the Motherwell court passages.
Police shot the suspect five times while trying to flee. He’s currently under police gaurd in hospital.

GQEBERHA | UPDATE | MOTHERWELL POLICE SHOOTING
It is alleged that the suspect who shot and allegedly killed a police officer in the Motherwell Magistrates court fled after the shooting and took a taxi.
He forced the taxi driver to take him to Korsten but the driver refused.
According to eyewitnesses, It is alleged that taxi driver flicked his headlights for the police and the police followed.
A shooting in incident then occurred in Sisulu street about 2km from the Motherwell Magistrates Court.
Details on the shootings can not be be verified at this point
