motivation to graduate
When I was younger I used to go to res with my brother 🕊 and sometimes my dad 🕊 to pick up Salome every end of term. Maan the way I used to love seeing them walking freely around campus and I wanted that for me so badly. I didnt have the luxury of playing in the streets with other kids or going to my friends houses for sleepovers or whatever. My dad was NOT about that life🙄🙄🙄. So whenever I went to my sisters res I knew I wanted that 'freedom' for myself. I knew I needed to pass matric and get into uni.
I also had the priviledge of attending Phakathi's undergrad graduation👩🏽🎓(missed her honours grad), Salome's 2x graduations 👩🏽🎓👩🏽🎓. The one grad Pres Robert Mugabe was a guest and I was like "WHAAATTT??!! Graduations are it man!!"
Of all my dads grumpy and strict days, graduation day was one of the days he would be proud to have birthed QUEENS 👑. (He never attended mine 🙄 but askholapho)
Anyway my point of the post is I eventually went to uni because ... well it was modelled to me by my amazing siblings but most importantly because I WANTED TO GO TO UNI
I made sure I graduated because I witnessed the self-gratifying emotions of walking across a stage in your regalia to collect validation of your hard work. I wanted it for myself so badly.
So please if you have a younger brother, sister, niece, nephew, grandchild, child In high school... please play them this video and perhaps this might spark some motivation for them to work hard until they reach a place where they have always envisioned themselves in.
The video is a showcase of how happy the graduates were on their day and so hopefully the young one can aim to reach a place where they are very happy with their hard work put it. With anything really. But for me may this serve as motivation for someone in school who wants to see themselves graduating one day.
