What is a monologue?
Is a speech presented by a single character, most often to express their thoughts/feelings/emotions aloud, sometimes also to directly address another character or audience
How to prepare a monologue?
*tips for preparing your monologue*

Make sure you are aware of how you are behaving before you even begin with the monologue
2. Do not stare/look down the panel - *pick a specific point/points for your delivery
*decide who you are directing, delivering, expressing your thoughts/emotions to.
*is it someone in the audience? Is it a spot on the wall? (Mostly done by beginners), wherever you are directing it you need to be consistent.
3. Introduce or look for levels
*analyze the levels of your emotions in your piece, where does the character start and where do they end the piece?
*It's vital to break down and think about the way of the flaws, how emotions are replacing one another
4. Range
*to range is to vary your tone, pitch and volume of your voice to convey different emotions and moods.
*it so important to range when performing your monologue so you can keep your audience engaged and interested in what you are delivering
5. Do not go over time
Make sure you time yourself before you get to the audition
6. Try to find something unique in your piece
It can help to differentiate if you pick something less obvious.
7. Do your research
Do your research and really think about what aspects of the monologue are needed to deliver in a natural and authentic way
8.Reveal your personality
*try to show something that reflects you as the person, something that suits you.
*ideally, you'd look for something that will work in your accent, that reflects in your content, however, that doesn't mean you shouldn't be flexible in your craft and your acting skills
9. Take on any direction
*often, a panel will offer you some direction and ask you to repeat your sections
* do not deliver your monologue the same way you did before the direction
