Upon returning from our North-Eastern Botswana Expedition, we rolled into Botswana's Capital City Gaborone just after sunset. We then decided to stop at Engen Western By-Pass to fill our rig Musafir up with gasoline.

Whilst filling up, I was approached by this gentleman who was so happy to meet us. His name is Ruri Kopi. Ruri is a fellow overlander who has been following us on our social media pages. He was so happy to meet us in person. And even invited us to join their overlanding on some expedition in the future. Their group is called Overlanding and Camping Nation (OCN).

We accepted the invitation immediately and will soon be overlanding Botswana with OCN. It feels great to meet the people who follow us and exchange a sticker or two with them.

It indeed was a pleasure to meet you, Ruri, and soon we will be sitting around a campfire together somewhere in Botswana.

Many moons ago, when we started to take the family on bushveld holidays, we purchased a smallanyana pump in order for us to inflate and deflate the tyres of our vehicle, which was a Ford Territory Ghia then. And it was good enough for its intended purpose.

Upon embarking on our first major overlanding trip with .sa when we did the first trip of the group through the Northern Cape, I came to realise that my old pump was not enough as it takes forever to inflate my tyres. That situation became worse when we replaced the 265/65/16 tyres on our current rig Musafir to 285/70/17 size. The process of pumping up our wheels as the terrain changes became even more labourious and time-consuming.

Deon Venter and his team at 4x4 Mega World then upgraded our compressor pump by availing the Mobile Heavy-duty ARB Gen2 12v Portable Air Compressor to BBA. We couple this pump with a double hose gauge. This indeflate allows one to inflate and deflate 2 tyres simultaneously.

With this pump on hand, our pumping woes were sorted out. Pumping up our wheels is no more such a labourious exercise, as it pumps our wheels fast. Thanks, Deon, for this pump.

As one drives on the A1 North in Botswana towards the town of Mahalapye, just before village of Dinokwe the Tropic of Capricorn passes the national road.

Now what is the Tropic of Capricorn. It is an imaginary line of latitude that marks the southernmost point on Earth where the sun can appear directly overhead at noon.

We stopped on this latitude and took in the surrounding there. There is nice crafts market where Batswana women sell their traditional Setswana wares.

I am sure by now many, if not most of our followers, know that myself and my cameraman Musa Jonathan are Muslims. So when we Overland, we always look out for Halaal butcheries and eateries. So when Black Boy Adventures went to Botswana for the first time, we made contact with a good friend of ours in Lobatse, Uncle Aslam Tayob. He gave us the whole lowdown and even sent us a list of certified places in the entire Botswana from south to north of the country.

So when we reached the city of Francistown we then went to Chicken Licken as it was easier to find but found it closed as we arrived there around 20h30. We then met a young man by the name of Afridi Qadri, who was the last client to buy food at Chicken Licken. He then told us about a 24-hour restaurant not too far from where we were. He even accompanied us to the place.

That restaurant is called Revive Pitstop. We then ordered some chicken pieces with chips as takeaways. The crispiest of chicken i ever had in my whole life. We enjoyed the food so much, and upon returning from the Makgadikgadi Excursion, we decided to stop there again to have lunch. I ordered traditional Setswana food of tshotlho/lerito as we call it in South Africa or Seswaa as they call it in Botswana with samp. I enjoyed my lunch very much.

Now, this little independent restaurant/convenience store sells all types of food, from Italian pizzas to Setswana food to fried chicken, fish, etc. They also have imported designer drinks and halaal frozen meat. I saw some imported burger patties from the famous Joburg Butchery called Khan's. Come on, Rashad, I am sure you can get Barkly Road Muslim Butchery products into Francistown as well, buddy😉.

2km before one enters the village of Dukwi on the A3, North-East of Botswana, there is this massive Baobab tree on the side of the road. My buddy from Landcruiser Club Botswana Mothusi Ramushu & I decided to stop at it to enjoy an epic African sunset. These African giant trees are a marvel to look at.
