Around the campfire after a day of overlanding is where the best stories are told. It's the time to chill, have a drink, prepare & eat supper, and afterwards gesels lekker before retiring to our tents for the night.

We had the entire camping site to ourselves at Rhodes Farm. It was a beautiful and quiet evening.

I had promised to take my family to the Ditshoswaneng Community Art Centre in the township of Ikhutseng in Warrenton.

This past Easter Monday, I fulfilled my promise and took them there. We met up with Vuyo Mafafo, who is the founder & curator of the centre. Vuyo is the son of eminent Galeshewe artist Bra Rochester Mafafo, aka I-Rock. He took us through the place and explained to us the work they are involved with and the community projects they engage with.

We were very impressed and had hope that community activism is still taking place within our communities.

Our visit also coincided with our first planning meeting of collaborative activities between Ditshoswane & Black Boy Adventures. Be on the lookout in the press for announcements soon.

There is nothing scarier than an engine light coming on whilst overlanding in a foreign country.

We were entering Gaborone from the northern side, 20km out of town, when the engine light came on, reporting a fault. Now, this could be anything from as small as wire that has come loose to a major engine problem.

I got a moerse fright. Moreover, I was not carrying a diagnostic machine to determine what was wrong & we still had a few days of overlanding to do. Infact, I think I should invest in a diagnostic machine.

We sent out an SOS to the members of the Landcruiser Club Botswana and the response was swift from club members. Our buddy Damara Tabengwa waited for us as we entered the city and took us to his trusted auto electrician Potso Mokotedi, who is based in Block 8, Gaborone

Within minutes, Musafir was diagnosed with a brake switch failure. Pheeeuuw, what a relief for us. Upon inspection and fiddling, it was rectified as the switch had just come loose of all the gravel roads we did.

The friendship and brotherhood/sisterhood within the Landcruiser Club Botswana is indeed great and dependable.

We were driving through Gaborone coming from Gaborone Butchery around Tlokweng on our way for the Friday Sermon of Jumah at Phakalane Masjid when we were flagged down by this gentleman who was also driving a TOYOTA Landcruiser 79.

We were going to perform the Jumah prayers and thrn head North East of Botswana to join our mates from Landcruiser Club Botswana for the Radisele Expedition.

Coming from South Africa, we first hesitated to stop (if you know, you know😜), but decided to stop & hear him out. Only to realise that the man follows Black Boy Adventures on our various social media platforms & only wanted to greet and take a photo with us. If anyone sees this man around Gabs, say hi to him.

Having overlanded 3 times in Botswana so far and definitely going back to that country in the future as Botswana offers so much overlanding and safari destinations, have we come to realise how many people follow us there. Infact of our international followers, the Botswana followers make up 50%, and we are so happy and proud of that. Rea Leboga Batswana.

Bangwato Dumelang!!!

Driving through the village of Radisele in the Central District of Botswana, aka Serowe District. We are on the way to our camping site at Rhodes Farm to meet up with fellow Landcruiser Club Botswana members.

Radisele Village is located between the towns of Mahalapye and Palapye. The village forms part of the area under the Bogosi of BagammaNgwato.
