But What IF...?
-
-
What if the neighborhood heckler who's peppered us with code enforcement calls is actually playing 4D chess?
-
-
He's built a house; wants to sell it, and has another property on the block, where - I assume- he plans to do the same. We come in, reach out, so he learns our vision for a neighborhood farm.
-
-
In the meantime, we see the power-line trimmers in the neighborhood and offer them a spot to drop a load. "Bring a few more if you want," we tell them. Then, well, they brought us like 50 loads, waaaaaay more than we were counting on. But, we're farmers, so, "Lemonade?"

Instead Mr Developer just sees a "Nuisance!" and calls it in. Or so I've thought.
-
-
But what if he realized that our success is inherently tied to the embrace and encouragement of community. And if we had a decided antagonist, said community would rally behind and help propel our farm development all the faster. It would also scare us, as a team, into accelerated action.

In the end, the only person on the block who is likely to see almost immediate financial benefit from Farm Three becoming a gem of the neighborhood and destination for Jacksonville is this guy. So what if he's just playing bad cop to kick us all into gear? Who knows. So, would you be willing to...

1)Snap an American Gothic inspired “We Support Overalls Farm” pic with an upended pitchfork (or other garden tool) wearing Overalls (if you have them), and post with: “We Support Overalls Farm” and your reasoning + these tags and hashtags:

2)Join the Urban Ag Advocate Network to support urban ag policy in Jacksonville and beyond. Sign up at www.Overalls.Farm.

3)Pass the word. If you know “someone who you should call” on behalf of us or another urban farmer, please do. Share, comment, add to your story, etc.
