The Support Centre for Land Change (SCLC) is a registered Non-Profit Organisation based in George. Our vision is to support poor and vulnerable rural communities. Our core intent is agrarian transformation with a specific focus on land- and climate justice. We are partnering with other civil society organisations to advance land and agrarian justice and transformation in South Africa. We focus on labour, tenure and human rights of vulnerable workers and dwellers, access to land and resources for small-scale/subsistence farmers/ food producers, people living with insecure tenure and support and solidarity for communities resisting land developments which threaten their homes, livelihoods, health and heritage.
SCLC is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Junior Field Worker for a period of 10 months starting 3 March 2025.

The key performance areas will be:
β€’ Field activities (supporting small-scale farmers, forestry dwellers, identified informal settlements, farm workers and dwellers, rural women, climate justice awareness and activism)
β€’ Planning and reporting.
β€’ Networking with stakeholders and strategic partners
β€’ Filing and maintenance of communication system.
β€’ Submitting Means of Verification (attendance registers, reports, logbooks, pictures, etc)
β€’ Preparing and submitting weekly requisitions for payments with supporting documents.
β€’ Report writing and admin responsibilities like keeping and submitting timesheets
β€’ Attend important internal meetings and learning events when requested by the organisation

The successful candidate will need to meet the following core competencies:
1. Be between 18 and 35 years old with a matric pass.
2. Have a valid (legal) driver licence.
3. Have a working knowledge of Word, Excel, and e-mail and internet applications.
4. Be based in or around George
5. Be able to understand, read, write, and speak English and ability to communicate in either Afrikaans or isiXhosa.
6. Be a team player with an eagerness to learn.
7. Be an independent thinker.
8. Involvement in community structures or community development.
9. Basic report writing skills.
10. Willingness to participate in developing organisational plans, strategies and direction

It's a new year new goals new adventures. In a few weeks IYX Africa will be heading into Botswana and assist in training and building a youth camp. There will be a volunteer call call out T&cs apply.

When the call comes out we will be needing volunteers who can work well with children the san youth in Botswana speaks English very well.
