Let's count the oxpeckers on the buffalo's back! 1, 2, 3... Can you find them all? 🐦🐘
These clever birds are called oxpeckers and they help keep the buffalo healthy by eating ticks and other pests. But did you know they can also be a little bit of a nuisance? Sometimes, they open up old wounds to drink the blood, which can be painful for the buffalo. It's a balancing act – the buffalo needs the oxpeckers to help it stay healthy, but it also needs to protect itself from being hurt.
There's TWO different types of oxpecker foraging on this buffalo... Can you see the difference?

Do you know the name of this creature?
The antlion is a fascinating insect that can be found in many countries across the globe.
🐜🦁 Antlion adults are flying insects, with beautiful net-like wings. The adult only lives one or two days before perishing
🐜🦁 Not all antlion larvae use sand traps, some hide under leaf litter or on rocks to ambush unsuspecting insects.
🐜🦁 It uses small funnel-like holes to trap unsuspecting prey. The antlion waits at its base, hidden under the sand - ready to snatch any victims that fall in with its enormous, powerful jaws.
You can find out more about the amazing Ant Lon and more interesting animals in our new book - Counting in Africa: The BIG and little Five. Order yours today! A portion of all purchases donated to Rhino Rescue UK.

We are so happy to showcase the three finalists in our recent #CountingInAfrica competition.
All three of these schools have sent in fabulous, creative entries and now we have the hard task of choosing the winner!
It is always a delight to see the wild world through the eyes of our children, and it is our hope that this competition has given all the participating schools a better understanding and intrigue for the wonderous variety of wildlife that we have in Africa. Our reserves will be in their precious hands in the future, so it it is imperative that we nurture and encourage this interest.
Thank you @howickprepschool, @laddsworth Primary School and @epworthschoolpmb for your delightful entries.
We will announce our winner on Monday.
