The Mzantsi Jazz Awards Company proudly unveils the " _Making Jazz Sexy Again! _ " campaign, a fresh initiative to reignite South Africa's love affair with jazz music.
This campaign is set to spark a renewed interest in jazz, showcasing its enduring elegance and deep emotional resonance. Jazz's storied past, from its exuberant origins to the iconic stylings of legends like Kippie Moeketsi and Dolly Rathebe, has always possessed an inimitable allure.
Striking billboards will soon adorn Gauteng's highways, beckoning audiences to reacquaint themselves with the genre's seductive charm, each board presenting some interpretation of " Sexy"!
Accompanying the visual story will be a mini- series of conversations on the State of South African Jazz with some of the great musicians, compered by Award winning Jazz Presenter, Ngwako Tebogo Malakalaka of The K Jazz Show on KofifiFM 97.2 and Dr Mongezi C Makhalima , the founder and MD of the MJA.
The " Making Jazz Sexy Again " campaign stands as a tribute to jazz's timeless magnetism, extending an open invitation to both seasoned enthusiasts and newcomers to delve into the genre's enchanting world anew.
The campaign will culminate at the 8th Mzantsi Jazz Awards on 31 August at the Soweto Theatre, set to be a grand fête of jazz's perpetual power to delight, inspire, and soothe both performers and audiences alike.
The ceremony will celebrate the artistry of modern jazz talents while also honoring the icons who have defined the genre. It will also feature an interpretation of the theme "Sexy" through an special photographic exhibition by Award Winning Jazz Photographer Siphiwe Mhlambi
All are invited to partake in this tribute to jazz, a genre that persistently captivates with its grace and expressivity.
