Senior Citizens all smiles

It was a Sunday like no other.

This was the 22nd December 2024 as the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa in Thembalihle, Vrede, honoured and appreciated its senior citizens.

Each of these elders was gifted with a shopping voucher to spoil himself or herself according to his/her wishes.

It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, singing, dancing and preaching.

The elderly were then served with lunch.

New brand identity for new small businesses agency

The logo for the recently established government agency for the development of small businesses in South Africa has been unveiled.

This newly established small enterprise agency is called the Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency (SEDFA).

It was formed when the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (sefa), the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), and the Cooperative Banks Development Agency (CBDA) officially merged under the National Small Enterprise Amendment Act of 2024 (NSEA).

It started operating on the 1st October this year.

Sedfa is incorporated as a State-Owned Company under "Small Enterprise Development and Finance Agency SOC Limited," with the State as the sole shareholder.

The logo for this new entity was unveiled last week at a media breakfast by the Minister of Small Business Developmet, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams.

Speaking at the unveiling Ndabeni Abrahams said much work has been done getting SEDFA ready for business, redefining its governance, its strategy, its structure, and its new instruments and offerings.

“There is no other government entity or company that has SEDFA’s mandate and can offer the services and products across all MSME and co-operative segments.

“It is only SEDFA which has the mandate to provide seamless and integrated services across the pre-investment, investment, and post-investment space.

“This is SEDFA’s unique value proposition, and which will make it a game-changer in the small enterprise support eco-system,” said Ndabeni-Abrahams.

The Minister further explained that the focus is on supporting all segments of small enterprises, from informal micro enterprises through to high growth tech startups and highly competitive export- oriented manufacturing enterprises. The emphasis is on sustainability – of the enterprises supported as well as SEDFA itself.

“Today we give identity to SEDFA in officially revealing the exciting new logo, which should not be seen as just a SEDFA brand but a symbol that will bring together all role players in the small enterprise ecosystem,” she said.
