Festival drama Shakes Mokopane: Event Organizers in heated feud over March 29 Kiddies Festival
Mokopane is set to witness a dramatic showdown between two rival events, both scheduled for March 29, 2025—each boasting the same lineup of artists and activities, but taking place at separate venues. The situation has escalated into a bitter feud, with both event organizers accusing each other of sabotage, misinformation, and unethical behavior.
On one side is ReThabishaBana Events, an established company known for organizing school and family fun days across Limpopo. Their event, Mokopane Kiddies Festival with Color Splash, is set to take place at Mahwelereng Stadium.
On the other side is Hunadi, a well-known radio host from Thobela FM, who is organizing Hunadi’s Family Funday at Mogalakwena Beach Pub. The feud began when ReThabishaBana discovered that Hunadi’s event was scheduled for the exact same day as theirs, featuring nearly identical activities and artists.
Hunadi: "I Chose the Date First!"
In a press release from Hunadi’s camp, she claims that she had already set her event date long before ReThabishaBana announced theirs. She states that she has been unfairly accused of copying, emphasizing that she has a track record of hosting successful events and does not need to imitate anyone.
Furthermore, Hunadi insists that her social media statements were taken out of context, and she merely expressed support for ReThabishaBana’s growth while defending her own event’s originality. She denies trying to sabotage the competition, arguing that her event is targeted at a different audience and that her long-standing brand speaks for itself.
ReThabishaBana Events Fires Back:
Meanwhile, ReThabishaBana Events has not held back in their own response, accusing Hunadi of unethical practices. Their statement, issued by Marketing Manager Mamashele, claims that Hunadi is attempting to mislead the public into thinking ReThabishaBana’s event is hers.
The statement further alleges that Hunadi has a history of taking advantage of collaborations, citing past incidents at the Seshego Kiddies Festival (2023) and Jane Furse Kiddies Festival (2024) where her participation caused friction. ReThabishaBana claims they had to cut ties with Hunadi after she repeatedly acted in ways they deemed "opportunistic."
Sabotage or Coincidence?
The feud intensified after ReThabishaBana revealed that Hunadi hosted a last-minute meet-and-greet in Lebokgomo on December 16, 2024—just a day before ReThabishaBana’s Lebowakgomo Kiddies Festival. Now, as both events approach, tensions are boiling over.
The key question remains: Did Hunadi deliberately schedule her event on the same day to compete directly with ReThabishaBana, or is this all just an unfortunate coincidence?
With both events going full steam ahead, the Mokopane community is now caught in the middle. Some supporters believe Hunadi has the right to host her event without being accused of wrongdoing, while others side with ReThabishaBana, arguing that their reputation is being unfairly tarnished.
One thing is certain—March 29, 2025, will not only be a day of entertainment but also a major test of loyalty for fans and vendors. Which event will emerge victorious?
