Festival drama Shakes Mokopane: Event Organizers in heated feud over March 29 Kiddies Festival

Mokopane is set to witness a dramatic showdown between two rival events, both scheduled for March 29, 2025—each boasting the same lineup of artists and activities, but taking place at separate venues. The situation has escalated into a bitter feud, with both event organizers accusing each other of sabotage, misinformation, and unethical behavior.

On one side is ReThabishaBana Events, an established company known for organizing school and family fun days across Limpopo. Their event, Mokopane Kiddies Festival with Color Splash, is set to take place at Mahwelereng Stadium.

On the other side is Hunadi, a well-known radio host from Thobela FM, who is organizing Hunadi’s Family Funday at Mogalakwena Beach Pub. The feud began when ReThabishaBana discovered that Hunadi’s event was scheduled for the exact same day as theirs, featuring nearly identical activities and artists.

Hunadi: "I Chose the Date First!"

In a press release from Hunadi’s camp, she claims that she had already set her event date long before ReThabishaBana announced theirs. She states that she has been unfairly accused of copying, emphasizing that she has a track record of hosting successful events and does not need to imitate anyone.

Furthermore, Hunadi insists that her social media statements were taken out of context, and she merely expressed support for ReThabishaBana’s growth while defending her own event’s originality. She denies trying to sabotage the competition, arguing that her event is targeted at a different audience and that her long-standing brand speaks for itself.

ReThabishaBana Events Fires Back:

Meanwhile, ReThabishaBana Events has not held back in their own response, accusing Hunadi of unethical practices. Their statement, issued by Marketing Manager Mamashele, claims that Hunadi is attempting to mislead the public into thinking ReThabishaBana’s event is hers.

The statement further alleges that Hunadi has a history of taking advantage of collaborations, citing past incidents at the Seshego Kiddies Festival (2023) and Jane Furse Kiddies Festival (2024) where her participation caused friction. ReThabishaBana claims they had to cut ties with Hunadi after she repeatedly acted in ways they deemed "opportunistic."

Sabotage or Coincidence?

The feud intensified after ReThabishaBana revealed that Hunadi hosted a last-minute meet-and-greet in Lebokgomo on December 16, 2024—just a day before ReThabishaBana’s Lebowakgomo Kiddies Festival. Now, as both events approach, tensions are boiling over.

The key question remains: Did Hunadi deliberately schedule her event on the same day to compete directly with ReThabishaBana, or is this all just an unfortunate coincidence?

With both events going full steam ahead, the Mokopane community is now caught in the middle. Some supporters believe Hunadi has the right to host her event without being accused of wrongdoing, while others side with ReThabishaBana, arguing that their reputation is being unfairly tarnished.

One thing is certain—March 29, 2025, will not only be a day of entertainment but also a major test of loyalty for fans and vendors. Which event will emerge victorious?

APC Mogalakwena Reconfigures SREC to Strengthen Campaign Ahead of 2026 Local Government Elections

The African People's Convention (APC) in Mogalakwena held a significant meeting on 26 October to reconfigure its Subregional Executive Committee (SREC). This reconfiguration is part of a strategic review aimed at bolstering the party's performance, following the 2024 National and Provincial Elections held on 29 May, and in preparation for the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections.

The meeting was attended by key party figures, including the Provincial Executive Committee’s provincial Secretary, MoAfrika Joe Lekganyane, and the Central Executive Committee (CEC) representative, MoAfrika Jerry Mogotle, who also serves as a Councilor in Mogalakwena Municipality. During the meeting, the APC took decisive steps to enhance its political strategy in Mogalakwena. One of the main resolutions passed was the party's commitment to contest all 32 wards in the municipality.

The APC emphasized its goal of recruiting the most credible candidates to represent the party in each of these wards. “We are committed to bringing in the best candidates to serve the community effectively,” said one of the party leaders. “We will be reaching out to recruit individuals with proven integrity and a passion for community service".

The APC’s efforts to expand its influence in Mogalakwena appear to be gaining traction, as numerous community leaders have expressed interest in joining the party. According to discussions held with these leaders, many have been exploring political affiliations and have found the APC to be a relevant choice, particularly due to the active involvement of Councilor Jerry Mogotle in community projects.

“Councilor Mogotle has been a beacon of hope for many residents. His dedication to community upliftment has positioned him as one of the few councilors genuinely committed to addressing local issues,” said a community leader who attended the meeting. The meeting also saw the election of new officials to the SREC, with a fresh team now set to lead the APC's local strategies: Chairperson: Daphney Maila, Deputy Chairperson: Mpho Kgwadi, Secretary: Isaac Mongwe, Deputy Secretary: Phuti Kgomo and Treasurer: Dikeledi Ledwaba.

These newly elected leaders are expected to play a pivotal role in driving the party’s vision for Mogalakwena, as the APC gears up for the 2026 elections. The APC's commitment to contesting all wards, coupled with its strategic reconfiguration of local leadership, indicates a robust approach to expanding its influence and securing a greater foothold in Mogalakwena.

The party aims to leverage its track record and the active engagement of its leaders to attract voters and credible candidates alike. As preparations for the 2026 Local Government Elections intensify, all eyes will be on the APC's ability to deliver on its promises and secure the trust of the Mogalakwena electorate.

COMMUNITY CRYING OUT FOR HELP

The Mountain View and Sekgakgapeng community appeals to the provincial government to provide basic services, saying Mogalakwena Municipality is failing to deliver on its promises.

In an era where technology drives the world, and basic services are considered fundamental rights, the residents of Mountain View and Sekgakgapeng Extension 19 remain trapped in an unthinkable reality.

The attached images paint a sobering picture of life in these communities:
People still depend on wheelbarrows to fetch water in the 21st century. This is not a scene from a bygone era but the heartbreaking present, exposing the blatant failure of Mogalakwena Municipality to meet its most basic responsibility.

The first image reveals a harsh landscape where residents, armed with wheelbarrows and containers, venture into the scorching sun to fetch water. These are not voluntary treks for fitness or leisure.

They are journeys born out of neglect and desperation, where individuals must allocate significant time and energy to secure water—a fundamental human necessity.

The second image is even more disheartening.
Women, men, and children gather in long, improvised queues, waiting for their turn to fill containers from a limited water supply. The wheelbarrows in the foreground symbolize a community left behind, where primitive survival methods replace innovation and progress.

How can such scenes persist when billions are allocated annually to municipal budgets?

Mogalakwena Municipality must be held accountable. These pictures highlight:

1. Infrastructure Decay – Decades of mismanagement and corruption have left the water infrastructure in a state of collapse.

2. Social Inequality – While politicians enjoy luxury vehicles and plush offices, communities like these lack access to clean water—a fundamental human right.

3. Health Hazards – Using shared and inadequate water points increases the risk of waterborne diseases. Is the municipality waiting for an outbreak before taking action?

4. Missed Opportunities – Instead of channeling resources to develop sustainable water solutions, funds disappear into a black hole of maladministration.

The residents of Mountain View and Sekgakgapeng Extension 19 deserve better. They deserve leadership that prioritizes their well-being over personal enrichment.

Mogalakwena Municipality must urgently:

Repair and expand the water supply infrastructure.

Provide interim water tankers to address the immediate crisis.

Engage with communities to understand their needs and deliver sustainable solutions.

These images should not be a norm but a call to action.

It is time for Mogalakwena Municipality to wake up from its slumber and fulfill its mandate to the people it serves.

Mountain View and Sekgakgapeng Extension 19 are not forgotten footnotes of history. They are living, breathing communities demanding the dignity and rights they deserve.

If this situation persists, it will not only be a stain on the municipality but a collective failure of society to advocate for those left behin

FC BK City Crowned 2024 Ramorongwa Foundation Champions

Rooiwal Village Celebrates Another Memorable Tournament. The 2024 Ramorongwa Foundation Top 16 Tournament concluded in spectacular fashion as FC BK City emerged as champions after a thrilling final match against Danone FC.

The tournament, organized by the Ramorongwa Foundation, has become an annual highlight for the youth of Rooiwal Village and neighboring communities, drawing participants and supporters together in the spirit of sportsmanship and community engagement.

Ramorongwa Foundation chairman, Lesiba Joas Kgole, emphasized the tournament's objective “Our annual tournament aims to keep the youth positively entertained during the festive season instead of indulging in alcohol and other substances. December is a time when the youth, who usually live outside Rooiwal for jobs or studies, return home to reconnect with their community.

The tournament provides a platform for engagement, sportsmanship, and growth.” The foundation aligns its mission with providing resources and opportunities for community development, and this year’s event was no exception. The tournament featured 16 teams competing fiercely over five days: December 26 & 27: The first 8 teams competed on the 26th, with 4 advancing to the quarter-finals.

The remaining 8 teams played on the 27th, completing the quarter-final lineup. December 28: The quarter-finals saw 8 teams battling for a spot in the semi-finals. December 29: The semi-finals narrowed the competition to FC BK City and Danone FC, with Mapela Dynamos and Rich Hobbo competing for third place. December 30: The much-anticipated finals took place, with a third-place playoff in the afternoon and the final match at 16:00. Mapela Dynamos secured third place with an impressive 3-0 victory over Rich Hobbo, while FC BK City triumphed over Danone FC in a tense penalty shootout after a 0-0 draw during regulation time.

The tournament drew large crowds, including parents, siblings, and children from Rooiwal and surrounding villages. All 16 teams demonstrated exceptional skill and determination, competing for the grand prize of R60,000, a cow, and medals. The final match was a testament to the competitive spirit, with both FC BK City and Danone FC delivering outstanding performances. FC BK City manager, Tebogo Mashabane, expressed his pride in the team stating that "The journey was not easy, but my players showed resilience, both physically and mentally.

Having lost in the finals last year, the team believed this was their year, and they delivered.” Player of the tournament, Chaba Tshepiso from Moletji Ga Sako, shared his excitement “I am very proud to have been crowned the best player of the tournament. It’s a great honor, and the trophy means a lot to me.” The Ramorongwa Foundation is already planning for the next tournament, with goals to expand the participating teams to 25, include more Banyana Banyana teams, and introduce under-17 and under-19 categories.

The foundation also aims to establish an academy to nurture local talent and provide opportunities for growth. Long-term projects include building a stadium and a community hall to host skill development programs and extra lessons for schoolchildren. Chairman Lesiba Joas Kgole expressed gratitude to sponsors INVESTEC, AQUALLE, and UNJANI Clinic, whose contributions were instrumental in the tournament's success. As the 2024 Ramorongwa Foundation Champions, FC BK City walked away with R30,000, a soccer kit, a cow, medals, and the championship trophy. A whooping R60000 was at stake for the tournament.

The victory was not just a testament to their skill but also their perseverance and determination to claim the top spot. The 2024 tournament has set a high standard, and with plans already underway for next year, the Ramorongwa Foundation continues to inspire and unite the community through the love of sports.

Thorough investigations led to the arrest of three suspects, who had already appeared before court on December 24, 2024.

Meanwhile, their accomplice, the fourth suspect, is still on the run. A manhunt for the remaining suspect has been intensified.

The Police are appealing to Petrus Jabulani Masingi to visit his nearest police station, as it is believed that he can assist in resolving the case. Anyone with information that can assist the police regarding Masingi’s whereabouts should contact:

NO DRINKING WATER SUPPLY IN 600 DAYS

Water woes and Political tension: DA and Mogalakwena Municipality lock horns

The Mogalakwena Local Municipality has come under scrutiny following a call by DA Councillor Donald Paletswane for immediate national government intervention, citing prolonged service delivery failures and deep-rooted dysfunction. The Democratic Alliance (DA) claims that the ANC-led municipality has failed to provide residents of Extension 19 with running water for an alarming 1 year and 8 months.

Residents have reportedly resorted to desperate measures, including digging up and cutting water pipes to access water and transporting it over long distances using wheelbarrows and buckets. Paletswane emphasized that this represents a gross violation of residents’ basic rights and underscores the municipality's inability to meet fundamental needs.

The DA further highlights findings from the Public Affairs Research Institute (PARI), which attributes Mogalakwena’s long-standing dysfunction to factionalism within the ANC. This instability has allegedly undermined governance and reform efforts and even led to violence among officials. Previous provincial interventions under Section 139(1)(b) of the Constitution have failed to resolve these issues, prompting the DA to call for national government intervention under Section 139(7).

However, Mogalakwena Municipality has dismissed these claims, labeling them unfounded and politically motivated. In a statement, the municipality refuted the allegations of prolonged water outages, asserting that municipal technicians and plumbers are actively addressing service delivery challenges in Extensions 19 and 20.

“The municipality is committed to providing effective and efficient services. Teams are on the ground daily, replacing and repairing faulty valves and ensuring water restoration,” the statement reads. It also highlighted that 1,875 households in Extensions 19 and 20 benefit from free basic services, including 50 units of electricity and six kilolitres of water.

Municipal officials further argued that the DA misinterpreted Section 139(7) of the Constitution, emphasizing that the municipality is financially stable, has consistently met its financial obligations, and has achieved significant improvements in revenue collection, increasing from 50% to 90%.

While the DA points to service delivery failures and governance issues, the municipality maintains that it is among the few in the country consistently providing basic services, paying salaries, and meeting obligations to Eskom and water boards.

This clash highlights ongoing tensions between political parties and the challenges faced by residents in accessing essential services. The debate continues as both sides push their narratives on the state of Mogalakwena Municipality.

DJ Money Mok Launches Initiative to Replace Flood-Damaged Homes in Mogalakwena Municipality

Mogalakwena, Limpopo — DJ Money Mok, a respected community figure, has stepped forward with a generous initiative to rebuild homes for families affected by recent severe weather conditions. In response to the devastation caused by floods, DJ Money Mok seeks to replace 32 damaged houses—one per ward—across the Mogalakwena Local Municipality.

To address the logistics and obtain approval, DJ Money Mok has called for an urgent meeting with the Magoshi, Mantona, and ward representatives of Mogalakwena on 17th January 2025. The meeting will provide a platform to discuss the implementation of the project and to identify the most affected households.

The plan is to construct 32 houses, each measuring 50m² and featuring 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, and a lounge, to provide safe and secure shelter for affected families. Importantly, this is a voluntary contribution made by DJ Money Mok as a gesture of goodwill, with no compensation expected.

In the spirit of transparency and fairness, traditional authorities are requested to assist by selecting one severely affected household per ward.

To ensure the timely ex*****on of this project, Magoshi and ward representatives are urged to confirm their participation by 16th January 2025 at noon. If a ward does not respond by the deadline, the house allocation may be redirected to another ward in need.

This initiative underscores DJ Money Mok’s commitment to uplifting the community and supporting families in distress.

For further information, DJ Money Mok and local media platforms remain available to coordinate and provide updates.
