Chess is set to be showcased among 23 sports at the 13th African Games, hosted by the 🇬🇭 Republic of Ghana from 8th to 23rd March 2024.

📍 The event, to be held in the capital city of Accra, will be a celebration of the spirit of unity and excellence across the African continent.

♟️ The 13th African Games, sponsored by Riyadh Season, will witness the participation of 24 countries in the chess tournament. Each country is entitled to enter a two-player team (one man, one woman) and one captain. The formats will include the Mixed Team Rapid Championship, Men's Rapid Championship, Women's Rapid Championship, Mixed Team Blitz Championship, Men's Blitz Championship, and Women's Blitz Championship.

Chess update:
It was the WP District South Individual Trials 1 2024 yesterday 3 Feb. A looooong day (8am till 6pm) and the boys did well.

Luca played in u/9 age group winning 4 out of 5 matches and taking silver (2nd place).

Liam played in u/11 age group (he is still actually u/10) winning 4 out of 5 matches and taking bronze (3rd place).

It was a competitive line up of strong players and good preparation for the next tournament, which will be in March for WP Metro Trials 2. There they will face up against the other districts top players for WP colours.
