The South African DJ Awards (SADJs) are the first-of-its-kind in the country and a brainchild of six youth from Kwa- Mashu Township. This innovative event has been invented to celebrate and reward the musical and production talent of all South African Dj’s, from the well-known to the ring stars of this energetic and vibrant music scene. th African Dj’s Industry. As a run-up to the awards night, there will be a series of events and projects leading up to the main event. “Road to the SADJs” will be a series of activation concerts to take place in three major cities of South Africa considered to be leading in the music and entertainment industry: Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. These activations concerts are planned to take place in the mother city a month before the SADJs, followed by Johannesburg the week after and Durban hosting the final leg. The impetus of the “Road to the SADJs” is to showcase the Dj’s talent that would have been nominated by the South African public in all 9 provinces, four weeks before the main event. These nominations will be echoed by the general public through TV Broadcastings and FM radios from all provinces, which will be brought down to its majority numbers of each Dj. The South African music scene is vibrant, diverse and unique and the SADJs will be South Africa’s hall mark event to harness this diversity, through a unique and inclusive DJ-powered experience showcasing all music genres. Durban’s rich history and heritage, and cultural diversity make it a fitting destination for this music extravaganza, which will be held in the heart of the city’s CBD to guarantee maximum access.
