The Department of Home Affairs is years behind on its plan to completely replace green ID books with smart ID cards.

That means that South Africans who have not adopted the new ID card will likely be able to continue using their ID books for many years to come.

While Home Affairs’ initial plans were to phase out the old IDs between 2018 and 2022, the pace of smart ID card adoption has been insufficient to meet that timeline.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) first introduced the smart ID card in July 2013 as a replacement for the green ID book.

The smart ID card features a host of benefits over the booklet-style IDs, including:

A microchip that securely stores a citizen’s data, including biometric information like a photograph of their face and their fingerprints.

A “match on card” feature that enables verifying biometrics with the microchip itself without connection to a central database, enhancing citizen’s privacy.

“It was a toy. In the EFF from time to time we celebrate at our birthday celebrations by putting acts as part of the official programme. We were making firearm gestures at that [2018] celebration. It is part of the act that we bring a toy gun to demonstrate shooting as part of the celebration. During our 10th birthday celebration at FNB Stadium [in 2023] we had a stage going up. [It was] part of the act to make the event exciting and nicer,” said Malema.

Malema brought the “toy gun” in the court room to demonstrate to magistrate Twanet Olivier how it looks like.

“I have brought the real toy,” said Malema to Olivier.

Yesterday, I met my ex in a store k!ssing her new boyfriend in front of me, I was watching them, she saw me then she k!ssed him more and asked me what I was doing there?😪

I told her my wife is pregnant and I am there to buy baby stuffs and I am very very happy. 😬

I spoke as if she asked how i was feeling I proceeded in the store as she was looking at me, I bought 3 buckets, diapers, a baby seat and a baby bed with sponge with soaps, baby trawler, bicycle baby wears then I called an uber and left, She and her boyfriend were looking at me and I felt good😎.

🙄The issue now is if you know any woman who has given birth, I am selling buckets, diapers, baby seats, soaps and sponges at affordable prices.

Breaking News 🗞️| Driver flee the scene left the passenger behind after drove dead body straight to roadblock 🤦🏽‍♂️

Two men have been arrested by the Durban Metro Police after they were stopped at a roadblock with a concealed body in their car. The vehicle was stopped on the M41.

Law enforcement officers noticed the driver was uneasy, and he then fled the scene.

He was caught nearby and brought back to the car, where he and the passenger were arrested after the discovery was made.

Medics confirmed the person wrapped in plastic was, in fact, dead.

Members of the SAPS and Durban North CPF assisted Metro Police during the roadblock.

Popular rapper Shebeshxt, who is currently in hospital, lost his daughter, Onthatile Chuene in a car crash in Limpopo last weekend

The family of controversial musician Shebeshxt (real name Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke) are hoping the musician will recover in time for him to bury his daughter.

A source who spoke to Sunday World has revealed that the family had initially wanted to bury Shebeshxt’s daughter last Friday with the assistance of the Limpopo Arts Movement.

However, the funeral has been postponed to next weekend.

“They are hopeful that Shebeshxt would have recovered well enough to attend his daughter’s funeral,” said the source.

In addition, the source revealed that the artist is being investigated for culpable homicide
