Geneva Fruits

Geneva Fruits The first commercial Pineapple farmers in New Zealand. Selling the best pineapples you'll ever taste. Property name: Geneva Pineapple Estate.

Hi there,
We're Geneva Fruits, based in Whangarei, New Zealand. With our extensive experience growing tropical fruit and fruit in general over the years, back to when we were still living in East London, South Africa. We transferred a lot of that experience we learnt from there, to here in New Zealand. Although a lot we had to alter to suit the New Zealand climate, soil and other factors that coul

d affect the growth of what's being grown by us. With all this experience under our belt, we're bringing out the best of what we have been growing and people have seen that themselves after trying out our fruit. On our property we grow a wide variety of different produce, which includes: Coffee, Sugarcane, Prickly Pears, Dragon Fruit, Cherimoya, Passionfruit as well as Banana's and most notably the Pineapples. We currently have around 30,000+ pineapple plants planted. We sell our Pineapples to the Whangarei growers market (when we have them available) which starts at 6am and ends at 10am. Our pineapples sell out very early, so if you want to purchase one/some of the most succulent and juicy pineapples around, we'd highly suggest that you get there as early as you can after it opens, as you may end up losing out purchasing fruits that week; as our pineapples are in very high demand after all the publicity we've been getting on them. We've had a number media networks, such as radio, newspapers, magazines and shows contacting us over the past few years, here are some of the highlights listed below. Seven Sharp:

The volume of people who have contacted us to date has been amazing and we're very thankful for all the positive messages and feedback we've been given, with what we've been doing. We believe that the pineapples we have are some of the best you'll ever taste. Our pineapples are spray free and are as fresh as it gets. They are sold with the tops on, where as the ones sold in supermarkets are not.

We at Geneva Fruits are having a once off sale of our super-sweet spray-free Queen pineapples this evening between 6.00pm and 8.00 pm. We will be parked at the top of Lamb Road, next to the Clinic. The fruit is ripe and will need to be eaten or refrigerated in the next day or two. There are a limited amount and will be on a first come first served basis. There are only small $5 pineapples available and will be cash only. A big bonus will be that they come with their tops attached which will be able to be planted. This is a good time of the year for planting them.

The new pineapple lands for the ROI have now been planted on the raised beds. The ones that were planted in the beginning have already rooted and the last few beds will root when we get good rains. Our first crop of fruit from these 10 000 plants should be harvested from April 2026 as these were large suckers that were planted. This will give us a good indication of how much can be made from a quarter hectare.

Yesterday Culture Drones visited our plantation and sprayed our pineapples using a drone. This took place in the evening as pineapples photosynthesize at night time. We are applying fertilizer to help the pineapples grow healthy and strong. This has saved Owen hours of back-breaking, nap-sacking work.

Owen is hard at work planting each and every pineapple by hand. These are planted on raised beds.

We are working on an ROI (Return of Investment) at Geneva Fruits.
A quarter hectare of old Goldfinger bananas and pineapples have been cleared and the bananas have been sold. This will make space for the new beds of pineapples suckers to be planted.
Spring is a good time for planting pineapples and very soon they will root.
We should get a good indication of what our return is on the 10 000 plants over the next two or so years.

FOR SALE: 1000 GOLDFINGER BANANA PLANTS.

We are removing these lovely healthy 3 year old clumps to replace with pineapple plants. These should produce fruit in a year to 2 years and provide many healthy suckers which can be planted out. This is a perfect once off opportunity for someone who is wanting to grow about a three quarter hectare of the much sought after Goldfinger bananas, depending on spacing. Our heaviest bunch to date has been 36 kgs but we average about 20 kgs per bunch. We are selling these at a bargain price of $14 000 plus GST. They will be packed in bundles but will need to be collected on the farm. These are sliced in about metre lengths to make it easier to transport. They will need to be collected in 2 weeks time.

We’ve just returned from a trip to Townsville, Australia. It was an insightful and interesting trip with everything we got to do and see there. We went there for their pineapple field days, which had around 150 attendees. We had the honor to have been invited to join. They went out of their way to be hospitable to us, had lots of great chats, and we really appreciate everything they did for us while we were there! πŸ˜ŽπŸπŸ‘ŒπŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί

A group of the Australian pineapple growers had visited us early last year. They were keen for us to join them at their pineapple field days and their properties to see how they’re growing their pineapples etc.

We have come back with lots of knowledge in how we can go about improving what we’re doing and moving forward in our pineapple industry in New Zealand.

Hi everyone,

This will be our final week at The Whangarei Growers Market for a while, as our number of pineapples have dropped and the season draws to an end. We hope to see you there this week. πŸ‘πŸ‘Œ

We will likely be returning to the market at the end of August/ early September sometime.

We’d like to thank all of you for supporting us on the market, it’s greatly appreciated! We’ll see you there early on Saturday morning. The market runs from 6am - 10am. As we have been selling out fast, it’s advisable to get to the market as early as possible, to avoid missing out. 🀞

Kind regards, from all of us at Geneva Fruits and we hope you all have a fantastic weekend!πŸ‡³πŸ‡ΏπŸπŸ’™

Our vision for the pineapple industry in New Zealand for the future:

For the farmers who are interested in buying 10,000+ mature pineapple suckers for October - December, would need to start the process of preparing their soil. See our Geneva Fruits Limited page for more information of how to go about this.

We are planning on planting 30 hectares of pineapples over the next 6 years. The plan is to sell fruit directly to the public, first Northland, then the rest of the country. At a later stage or when we have surplus, we will look into exporting our pineapples. We will also sell our produce to wholesalers and supermarkets at the same price as what we sell our fruit for to the public. In this way, the farmer/grower is in control of their own specialised product.

We are pioneers of the pineapple industry in New Zealand and would like for farmers/growers to invest in this specialised crop. There will only be sales of 10,000 + mature pineapple suckers available.

1,000 banana plants will give you and income of approximately $50,000, the same as that of 10,000 pineapple plants in 2 years.

Self sufficient growers can buy our fruit from the Whangarei Growers Market and grow the tops. They can alternatively purchase smaller quantities of rooted tops from Hugh Rose at Land of the Lotus .

We have been experimenting with the Queen pineapples for the last 10+ years in New Zealand. We seem to be having fruit all year round, this is due to not using hormones to have the fruit flowering in succession. This is normally a period of around 6 weeks.

Our pineapples are super sweet, even in the middle of winter. You can eat the core of the pineapple, this is also where a lot of the bromelain is found (an enzyme, that is known to have a lot of positive benefits). The peels/skin can be made into kumbucha as we are spray-free. πŸπŸ‡³πŸ‡ΏπŸ‘ŒπŸ‘

Geneva Fruits operates on being debt free, we know this is an old school mentality, but with lots of hard work and being hands on, we have peace of mind.

Our motivation and secret to success is faith in Jesus, who makes the impossible possible.
