A composer is someone who makes beats and a producer is someone who buys the beat from the composer, look for a vocalist or lyricist and produce a song or give it direction kuze kuphume ifinal product. In reality a producer doesn’t need to know how to make beats, mix& master or record someone because his job ukuhlanganisa ingoma yonke as a product and have a good ear for music. La emzansi sesayiphambanisa yonke lento to a point where beat makers call themselves producers but they have no skill of producing a song and giving it direction kuphume ihit.

Just like in movies a director doesn’t need to know how to write, shoot and edit movies. His job is to have a vision for a movie, buy a script from the writer that corresponds with his vision, get people who are going to shoot and edit the movie before even hiring actors who are going to read those scripts and bring that movie to life.

So if you’re only a beat maker you’re not a producer uyi composer because you only deal with composing notes of different sounds and arrange them together kuze kuphume ibeat ephelele but ke futhi bakhona oproducer who can make beats and do a production of a song from start to finish like myself😎👍🏽 I hope niyangithola!!!!!!!!

I know a lot of good artists who are great singers but not so good at writing songs, sometimes if you know that you have a good voice but all the songs you make/write do not become hits you have to change your strategy, kumele wehlise ipride and collaborate with song writers. There are a lot of lyricists who are willing to work with artists and write songs for them and there are also a lot of world famous musicians who had great voices like abo Whitney Houston for an example, she made hits but never wrote even a single word on her songs, she knew that her job was to sing and perform. So bafethu it’s not a bad idea to work with song writers and improve your catalog👊🏽
