[Report] VOSMAN STATION COMMANDER APPEALS TO COMMUNITY TO REFRAIN FROM SHOPLIFTING
VOSMAN, 17 November 2024 – The Station Commander of Vosman Police Station, Brigadier Lindani Ndlovu, has raised concerns over the rising cases of shoplifting in the community. Between 10 and 17 November 2024, six of the 38 suspects arrested by Vosman Police were charged with shoplifting.
Brigadier Ndlovu emphasized the severe consequences of shoplifting, warning that it results in a criminal record that can hinder future employment opportunities and negatively impact families. "A criminal record stays for a long time on someone's file and may render them unemployable, which ultimately affects families, especially children," he said.
As the festive season approaches, Brigadier Ndlovu called on shop owners to enhance their security measures to curb shoplifting incidents.
Among the other arrests made during the week were individuals charged with serious offenses, including murder, attempted murder, sexual assault, theft of motor vehicles, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and drunk driving. Additional charges included robbery, malicious damage to property, selling liquor without a license, and violating Protection Orders.
Brigadier Ndlovu expressed particular concern about Protection Order violations, urging individuals to respect court directives. "When the court issues a warning to an individual not to infringe on another’s rights, it must be respected. Violations will result in criminal records," he stated.
The Vosman Police Station continues to prioritize the safety of the community and encourages residents to act responsibly while reporting criminal activities to help combat crime.
