The Board of Cape Town Film Studios announced today the appointment of Makkie Slamong as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. Slamong who joined Cape Town Film Studios in 2013, was promoted to General Manager in 2015 and has been acting in the CEO position for the last fifteen months.
Anant Singh, Chairman of Cape Town Film Studios commented, “The Board is delighted to appoint Makkie Slamong as CEO. He has worked diligently since he joined the company nine years ago and has made a meaningful contribution to the success of the business. His experience and the strong skill set he has developed over the years will hold him in good stead as he takes on the reins to lead Cape Town Film Studios.”
Speaking about his appointment, Makkie Slamong said, “I am honoured for this opportunity to lead Cape Town Film Studios into a new era. I thank my esteemed Board for the confidence they have shown in me. I wish to thank my wife and children for their love, support and for being my biggest cheerleaders. Also special thanks to my Management Team and staff for their continued support and encouragement. My commitment to transformation in the ever-evolving film and television industry is of paramount importance to me.”
Cape Town Film Studios is the first custom-built, high-tech film studio complex of its kind in Africa, offering state-of-the-art facilities. Built on a footprint of 60 hectares, it comprises of five sound stages, three workshops, three water tanks and an extensive back-lot and outdoor set area. Cape Town Film Studios is widely acknowledged as one of the Top Ten film studio complexes in the world. It has been home to notable productions among which are ‘Tomb Raider’, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ and ‘Ghost Party’, as well as a number of series including the recent productions of HBO’s ‘Raised By Wolves’ and ‘Warrior’ and ‘Panda’ from Netflix.
