This evening after following up on a logged call our teams are out repairing a pothole.

Please log the call and if not resolved let me follow it up for you.

“Aidon has not only taken in the learnings of being a junior city councillor but entrenched himself in various projects within the community since being elected junior councillor,” said Mr Mckenzie.

“More amazing is that he himself kicked off some amazing projects, which has really seen young people come together and be motivated to make better choices for their lives. He also built strong relationships with schools to implement those projects.

“He has also worked closely with my office and got involved with the Angus Cares projects, such as handing out food and clothing and just showing care to the community. Aidon is an amazing young man with a bright future ahead of him but a future that is entrenched in serving his people, the youth and his community.”

The Grade 7 pupils from Bramble Way Primary School took part in a workshop arranged by Bonteheuwel junior councillor Aidon Allies, 17. Bonteheuwel’s junior councillor, Aidon Allies, 17, hopes his community project will steer young people away from gangsterism by helping them make better choices fo...

A local community benefitting project, locals work, local build and locals benefit and not a single problem but for a handful who chose not to see local development.

ELECTRICITY UPDATE

2 Major faults exist in Bonteheuwel.

1. Firethorn, Huilbos, Jakkelsvlei, and surrounds - The source sub station exploded yesterday. This was likely caused by cable theft or vandalism. This is not an easy or quick fix. However, teams will be back on site this morning to continue trying to fix and restore electricity
2. Boxwood, Bramble Way, Bitterblaar, and surrounds - due to the substation exploding, this caused a 600 AMP to trip and malfunction.
An exact repair time is not possible. This is a major repair. Teams will again be on site this morning.

Please follow facebook.com/anguspmckenzieDA for updates.

This morning I was out early with our team of volunteer monitoring smash and grab hotspots.

This has been a good week with huge reduction in smash and grabbing vs previous week.....long may that live...

However, what was really concerning was that within a 10 minute period I saw over 20 motorist or passengers either using their cellphones at the robot or having it visibly displayed.

Please keep them away from eye sight and laptops bags must be placed in your boot.

They don't smash boots the smash windows, because the grab what they see.

URGENT NOTE TO COMMUNITY

Over the last few weeks I have been hearing some horrific stories of the behavior of children at our local schools.

From the outset let me say clearly, loudly and with no ambiguity, schools are place of learning, schools are not a kindergarten, a place to drop your kids off for a few hours and neither is schools a breeding ground for gang activity, drugs and crime.

I have had to listen to desperate pleas from parents whose children just cannot learn due to the ongoing disruption of learning by some learners. I have had to hear desperate appeals by teachers who just can’t take the disrespect, utter disobedience and frankly abusive behaviour from children, yes children.

Many mornings, way after school starting time I see kids strolling to school in half their uniforms, smoking ci******es and whatever else and swearing at you when ask them why they not at school yet. Now is this an indication of what happens or what is allowed at home? It cannot be, because that behavior must not and shall not be tolerated at schools.

More concerning is ongoing bullying taking place at school. When I look at matric results, it makes sense why our children are struggling to get jobs, struggling to get into places of further education and many of these challenges boil down exactly to what is happening in the classroom, on the school grounds and in the minds of those kids who think school is their place to stamp down authority vs learning for a brighter future.

I want to appeal to parents and learners affected by bullies, the law provides you to open case against these individuals. Please make an example of these undisciplined, disrespectful children. I want to thank educators who have spent years studying hard full knowing they would never earn a salary worth their effort for relentlessly continuing to believe the Cape Flats can still shine, the Cape Flats can still produce excellence however, while you are trained to deal with learning disability, learning challenges etc. etc. you are not expected to accept being sworn at, hit or even being verbally abused.

In one school, more than 30 children were found to be high during school hours! This is unacceptable, this is unheard of, this cannot be normal.

The success of your child is not only determined by the school or it’s educators, the biggest role in your child success, breaking the shackles of social ills and making difference sits with you the parent. Stop turning a blind eye, stop expecting others to raise your children and most importantly understand, school does not teach discipline, that’s your job, school educates your child.

To our educators and learners experiencing ongoing bullying and disruptive learning I urge you to not suffer alone. I urge you to immediately visit the nearest police station and open charges against these children. Make an example of one and the rest will follow.

Greater job prospects, a well-rounded person and a successful future depends on your child spending time learning in class vs thinking his cool bullying, selling drugs and being disruptive!

I shouldn't but I must.....

Bonteheuwel does not have a wetland at all..

In fact the area being claimed by some home owners who don't want to see others own homes as a wetland has a school, a mosque and another housing project known as Smartie Town built on it.

Don't be fooled by fools, it really is embarrassing....

We not stopping, we've only just started..
