🌻 AFRICA FREEDOM DAY 🌻
Sunflowers are a symbol of happiness and optimism. They represent longevity, love and loyalty & have been used in ceremonies for thousands of years. The Map of Africa in Zambian colors was painted on my faced to symbolize my pride and identity as an African Artist!
On this day, 28 years ago, my mother was liberated after carrying me for 9 months and I too gained my freedom after I took my first breath. I’m eternally in love with this woman for enduring complications & facing all risks in pregnancy and labor just to give birth to me. I am the seed sown by my father, I am his legacy & I am thankful for 25th May 1992...
Besides it being my birthday, this day is a reminder of the progress we’ve made as a continent. When I look at our history, we are who we are because of the blood that was shed and the sacrifices that were made by our magnificent freedom fighting ancestors. The best we can do is to emancipate ourselves through constantly seeking knowledge and being wise as we exercise our freedoms, to adapt quickly to this ever changing world and most importantly, prioritize African unity. Africa must not be left behind in the advancement of technology, infrastructure & economic development! We mustn’t be discouraged, stay optimistic!!! AFRICA is beautiful and extremely unique! We are a great people with rich culture & traditions! There’s no one like us! We are motherly and always welcoming...
I am a multi award winning Zambian artist because someone fought with their lives, for a person like me to have the freedom I am enjoying today, my names are Victoria Wezi Mhone & I have released music these past few years, for those of you who’ve never had the chance to explore, please check out my album ‘Leiloe’ it means “love is eternal” a word I coined to fit the melody of the title track for the album which was released 2nd August 2019.
