On Sunday 26 May an awesome group of teenagers from Strand came to tour the museum with their after-school organisation, Inkcubeko Youth Development.

The founder and director of Inkcubeko, Hlompho Ramabele (seen here in the green vest), visited us ten years ago with his school when he was a teenager. Now an adult, he remembered us and made sure to bring his own group to make new memories. We loved having you all, come back any time!

*UPDATE – CITY RESPONSE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER: Sunday, 7 April @ 15:15*

The City has activated its Disaster Coordinating Committee to coordinate its response to the impacts of the inclement weather experienced over the metropole and surrounds.

At this point, most of the impacts have been wind-related, with roofs blown off in Khayelitsha, Sir Lowry’s Pass Village, Macassar, Strand and Delft.

Residents of Morkel Cottages have been evacuated – they are staying with friends and family.

The Somerset West Methodist Primary School has also suffered extensive wind-damage.

In the south peninsula, at least nine properties have been destroyed by a fire in the Glencairn area.

Evacuations are underway in Main Road, Fish Hoek. The fire has also caused rock falls along Main Road.

The Energy Department is working on restoring power lines and supply in numerous areas, including Claremont, Fish Hoek, Athlone, Durbanville, Mfuleni, Kuilsriver and Plumstead.

There have also been numerous reports of uprooted trees in Somerset West, Philippi, Mitchells Plain and Sea Point.

Currently, road closures include Baden Powell Drive, Clarence Drive & the R44 and Main Road, Fish Hoek.

Litha Ndikolo, Queeng, 18 years old is a South African upcoming artist from Lwandle a small community in Cape Town, WC. Queeng was born on the 27th of September 2005 in Macassar Hospital.
His love for music was evident when he started singing at the age of 2 years. From then, Queeng has been singing till today.
Coming from a Christian family played a vital role in his music career as he learned the best techniques from the South African gospel artists Mahalia Buchanan, and Ntokozo Mbambo. As he grew older he fell in love with Beyoncè, Jennifer Hudson, Mariah Carey and so many big artists.

The year 2017 was huge for him because Queeng got to perform on a big stage for the first time. However that's also a year he has a story to tell about. Queeng has performed in big stages all over Western Cape, Gauteng and Eastern Cape.

In 2021 he started focusing on his music career and started recording music. He bagged 2 Look At God Music Awards as the Best Male Vocalist of the Year and Best New Comer Artist in 2022. He's been performing and has been labeled as a "Showstopper" because of the performance he has delivered. He is currently in school and aspires to feature Sishii, Langa Mavuso, Lloyiso and so many artists in the coming years.

On the 09th of March 2024, he was awarded as The Best Male Vocalist of the Year 2024 and Best Performer of the Year 2024.

On the 6th of July, Queeng will be performing at the Queeyonce live concert, he hopes to see you all there.

Liyema Standley Bolo was born on the 15th December 2005 in Cape Town.

He started modelling last year on the 24th May 2023 he was inspired by "Musa Calvin Sohuma" and "Hlompho Ramabele". Before putting all of his heart to his career he was first motivated by his friends and parents telling him that if he can try model he can go far because it suits him they all believed in him.

Because of the Inkcubeko Youth Development Liyema Standley Bolo managed to reach higher levels and unlock new levels. Y'all should study and stop posting candles saying God must be with you. Yes God will be there but he helps those who help themselves. Just let go of that mindset, seat down and STUDY. The only thing you could do is pray to God that he helps you study with understanding and that you remember everything you have studied/ about to study. Y'all should quit these media mindsets and be realistic with your lives for a change. Think and consider your own future when it comes to this. He started to do music when he was 14 years old in 2017, he started music with no directions he was just recording songs and send them to his friends.he started to take music seriously last year.

Harmony Hlahatsi was inspired by a concert film called "𝙱𝚎𝚕𝚒𝚎𝚟𝚎" in 2017, after he saw that film he started to write his own music. His first song had no title, He [Harmony Hlahatsi] described his music by 3 words which are "Good feel, Dancy and beautiful" he released his EP called "𝙷𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝𝙱𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚔 𝙲𝚒𝚝𝚢" on the 19th February 2024 !
