The BMW 7 Series is crowned SA Car of the Year - COTY 2024
South African Guild of Mobility Journalists - SAGMJ
BMW South Africa's 7 Series claimed the 2024 SA Car of the Year (COTY) title at a gala event in Johannesburg on May 8th. The secured second place overall, with the taking third.
In the competition, 18 finalists emerged from a pool of 80 qualifying vehicles spanning several fiercely contested categories.
These included Budget/Compact, Compact Family, Family, Premium, Adventure SUV, 4×4 Double Cab, Luxury, and Performance. Notably, this year's competition omitted the New Energy category, opting instead for a greater representation of EVs across various segments.
The category winners of the 2024 COTY competition are:
Budget/Compact: Suzuki Fronx
Compact Family: Toyota Urban Cruiser
Family: BMW X1
Premium: Mercedes-Benz GLC
Adventure SUV: Mahindra Scorpio-N
