PRESS RELEASE: WORLDS COLLIDE FOR HIGH FLIERS FILMS

High Fliers Films Boards Worldwide Sales for When Two World Collide

High Fliers Films has boarded worldwide sales for the romantic drama "When Two Worlds Collide", a co-production between Cardiff-based Seraphim Pictures and Toad Abode Productions of Bristol.

Based at the world-famous Pinewood Studios, High Fliers Films is one of the most respected independent distributors in the UK and since 2019 has established itself as a rapidly growing international sales force. The Company boards "When Two Worlds Collide" as worldwide sales agent in the approach to this year’s American Film Market.

"When Two Worlds Collide" is an unconventional romantic drama about the role Fate plays in romantic entanglements. The film marks the feature-length debut of award-winning writer/director/producer Rhys Freeman, who has successfully financed, produced and distributed short form content
worldwide as company director of Toad Abode Productions.

Lead producer is Daniel Lyddon, company director of Seraphim Pictures, whose previous feature Expiry played in the official selection of the Boston Sci-Fi Film Fest and the Lebanese Independent Film Festival in 2020. "When Two Worlds Collide" is the first co-production between Seraphim Pictures and Toad Abode Productions.

"When Two Worlds Collide", entering pre-production in September, is due to shoot in London, Cornwall, and Cardiff, with the Welsh capital once again doubling for a number of London locations. The film follows the romantic life of Cornish writer-director Peter Dupont as he struggles to accept that not everything in life goes according to plan, and that some things are best left to destiny. Details of the film’s cast are to be announced in the coming weeks.

Daniel Lyddon said:

“When Rhys first pitched the screenplay, I instantly recognised it as the perfect story for a generation currently falling out of love with dating apps. With so many of us having delegated finding love to
software algorithms, it seems fitting that When Two Worlds Collide asks just how much of our romantic relationships are governed by Fate, and how much by our own, human design?”

Rhys Freeman said:

“When Two Worlds Collide is a heavily significant piece of work to me for a number of reasons. When originally writing it, I had no real grasp or experience of how powerful Fate really is, how it works and
how things happen for a reason just when they’re meant to. This story feels like destiny to me and my career at this point in time. Having people connect with it the way myself and Daniel do has been significant. The next steps now of directing it shall be the most fun, releasing this to the world through the wonderful help of High Fliers is something I and the team greatly look forward to.”

Zach Rothwell, Head of International Sales & Distribution at High Fliers Films said:

“High Fliers is thrilled to announce its collaboration with Seraphim Pictures and Toad Abode Productions on the upcoming romantic drama, When Two Worlds Collide. As the romantic drama genre experiences a resurgence in popularity globally, we strongly believe When Two Worlds Collide will resonate with established distributors looking to strengthen their release schedule and meet the high consumer demand for premium romantic drama content.”

Had a very interesting time at "An Afternoon With " hosted by at in Cardiff this afternoon.

As a first experience of on Penarth Road it was definitely an eye-opener! For starters, the location is a world-class 360° immersive visual experience - how lucky we are to have this in . Secondly, the fact that were in town to discuss issues such as , and with is further evidence that in Wales has grown to such a point that the top are coming here to do more than just shoot movies and leave.

A trip to CultVR is definitely recommended, and should be added to the list of in South Wales...

FROM CARDIFF TO CAPE TOWN: WELSH FILM FINDS DISTRIBUTION ACROSS AFRICA

Welsh independent sci-fi film Expiry, which has found favour among post-pandemic audiences with its relatable story of a married couple prevented from touching by a ruling authority, has secured distribution throughout the entire African continent via the innovative new platform WaChing,
headquartered in South Africa.

The film, shot in and around Cardiff and Newport in South Wales, has been selected for multiple film festivals worldwide and celebrated a win at the Global Music Awards for its soundtrack by
multi-hyphenate creative Tom Gatley of TG Films in Carmarthenshire. Expiry has already been distributed in the US and Canada and recently launched in the UK on Prime Video - now the film will become available in South Africa via WaChing, expanding to all 52 African territories as the WaChing platform rolls out across the Continent in the coming years.

Launched in December 2022, WaChing empowers content creators to monetise their work by distributing content offline via a free app. The WaChing app enables users to earn money by sharing content offline without the need for subscription fees and costly mobile data plans. WaChing is an ideal platform for the African continent, where 70% of the consumer market exists offline without the
means to afford data, banking costs, or monthly streaming subscriptions.

The deal was brokered between Seraphim Pictures in South Wales and WaChing in South Africa via the online content marketplace Vuulr.com based in Singapore. Seraphim Pictures’ Company Director Daniel Lyddon said of the deal:

“Seraphim Pictures partnered with Vuulr in 2021 to launch a branded sales platform via the company website. The WaChing deal is the first deal closed through this partnership, with more to be announced before the end of the year. What’s interesting about this deal in particular is that one of the themes of Expiry is how wearable tech can restrict our lives, whereas WaChing is a real-life example of how mobile tech can actually enhance film
distribution in a way that hasn’t been available to us before.”

Tom Gatley, the film’s screenwriter, director and composer said of the deal:

“Both myself and everyone involved in Expiry are super excited to make this deal with WaChing, which will see Expiry released all across the continent of Africa. Not only does this bring our feature film to new audiences, but they also provide easier access to anyone who can’t get to a cinema or stream directly. I am therefore proud for us to partner with such a company who clearly have a good vision for film and its future.”

Sean Else, Creative Director at WaChing, added:

“We are extremely excited to share this great sci-fi film with our African audiences who can now download this film on WaChing without having to use costly data while at the same time empowering themselves and the filmmakers financially by using the app to not only view and download the film offline, but by also becoming distributors of the film within their own communities. 70% of the African population is offline and most people live on less than one dollar a day, so we are extremely grateful and excited to partner with Seraphim Pictures and the very talented creative team behind EXPIRY to bring such great entertainment to a hungry
and untapped audience.”

Expiry launches on WaChing in January 2023.

SOUTH WALES SCIFI FILM NOW AVAILABLE ON PRIME VIDEO UK:

An independent scifi movie filmed in and around Cardiff that found favour with post-Pandemic audiences in North America is now available in the UK for the first time. Expiry, a co-production between Seraphim Pictures of Cardiff Bay and TG Films of Carmarthenshire, was written and directed by Tom Gatley and filmed in South Wales in 2017 after winning The Cardiff Mini Film Festival Pitch Your Film competition of the same year.

The film stars local actors Sarah-Louise Tyler and Richard Miltiadis as married couple Sofia and Jamie Cooper who discover one morning that they are prevented from touching by the ruling authority that has deemed their union to have “expired”. Set in a not-to-distant future that could easily be our own, the plot of Expiry unfolds in a dystopic society that provides a warning about our own increasing reliance on wearable tech and mobile devices. The film has gained favourable reviews in the USA and has been compared to the Channel 4 / Netflix series Black Mirror.

The film’s musical score, which was composed by director Tom Gatley, won a Bronze Medal at the Global Music Awards at the end of 2019, and following Expiry’s Official Selection for the Boston Sci-Fi Fest in February 2020, the film gained the attention of Los Angeles-based representation company Blood Sweat Honey, which helped broker distribution for the Welsh indie movie in the USA, Canada and Caribbean through Cinedigm Corp. Within its first year of release, Expiry was selected for the International Sound & Film Music Festival - ISFMF in Croatia, where it was nominated for a Horizon Award, in addition to making the official selection to the The Lebanese Independent Film Festival - LIFF, and receiving a Silver Bullet Screening at Shockfest Film Festival 2022 in the United States in December 2021.

The film’s co-producer, Daniel Lyddon, said “I was attracted to the production because of the intriguing story that Tom Gatley had written. The idea that our relationships could be defined by government-controlled wearable tech may have seemed futuristic back in 2017, but after the Pandemic years when our interactions were often governed by location-based Covid-19 apps on our phones, Tom’s vision of our future seems eerily prescient.”

Multi-hyphenate creative Tom Gatley said of Expiry’s success to date: “I’ve always been fascinated by dramas with a hint of sci-fi, not too distant from our own world. The security cameras and rules of city life blended nicely into this story of a relationship on the rocks, and we were able to use Cardiff to tell a story relatable on many levels. It was only a matter of time before we saw how technology could hinder us as much as free us.”

Expiry is now available for rentals and purchases in the UK via Prime Video, with further deals set to be announced in the coming weeks. The film’s trailer can be viewed here:

WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTION SECURED FOR CARDIFF SHORT FILM

A short film produced in Cardiff has secured worldwide distribution to an audience of 20 million+ via the online platform Sofy.tv with further distribution to come via Sofy TV's presence on Samsung TVPlus in the UK and Europe. The Final Punchline was filmed back in 2011 just, as was catching on in , and it was among the first films from Wales to raise funds via the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo . With assistance from Creative Wales' locations team at Wales Screen, The Final Punchline was filmed at the University of South Wales' Glyntaff Campus and at Clwb Ifor Bach on 's Womanby Street.

The film's writer and producer Daniel Lyddon said of the distribution deal: "This film was mostly funded, by people in Wales, making use of local talent and locations, and even showcased clothing from the popular Cardiff brand I Loves The 'Diff so it's great that we finally have the chance to promote Welsh creativity beyond our borders".

A short psychological drama, The Final Punchline was produced by Cardiff Bay-based indie production company and directed by Cardiff director DJ Evans, who won the BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Film in 2006 for the horror movie Daddy's Girl. The film stars Maesteg-born James Morgan (nominated for Best Individual Performance at this year's Edinburgh Fringe for his portrayal of Welsh working-class martyr Dic Penderyn in Iniquity/Camwedd) - as Jason Rees, a Welshman who turns to stand-up comedy to help come to terms with a terminal illness diagnosis. As the worlds inside and outside of Jason's head bleed into one another, the film asks: is laughter really the best medicine?

The production also made use of Wales Screen's local crew database, and Seraphim Pictures was able to offer work experience placements for students and recent graduates from the University of South Wales' Atrium campus and other regional film schools. Crew-members have since progressed in their careers to work on varied TV shows such as Dr Who and Casualty for The BBC, Industry for HBO, and international film productions such as Transformers: The Last Knight for Paramount Pictures and Wrath of the Titans for Warner Bros.

The Sofy TV deal is the first in a number of forthcoming distribution deals for Seraphim Pictures, with further news to be announced in the coming weeks. Global audiences can now rent The Final Punchline for $0.99 per download, or subscribe to Sofy.TV and watch unlimited short films for $1.99 a month after a 30-day free trial.

Viewers can sign up to the platform and watch the film using this link: https://sofy.tv/viewer/film/the-final-punchline?rc=KUAOMC
