Marketing your organization is no easy task, especially if you are a nonprofit organization that is generally underfunded.
Even so, there are some marketing tips and tricks that’ll help you stay current and effective while you hire an employee or contract with a consultant.
Three things to avoid when you are marketing your organization are
1️⃣ Over-complicating the message - everything that you publish should be with your desired audience or community member in mind. You want your content, narratives and work to be accessible. Be sure to not over-complicate the message (takeaway) by hiding it under jargon, complex terminology or situations that don’t connect.
2️⃣ Going Overboard with Efforts - you do not need to be everywhere all the time! Sometimes we get caught up trying to build something great and getting as many eyes as possible. You should want your work to be seen, you should not attempt to post on every platform digital or traditional. You’ll wear out your base and not be able to track your success.
3️⃣ Talking to everyone - audience matters! PERIODT! You need to ensure you know who you are talking to if you want to be successful.
