I have revived this page because I'm still suffering from MWS.... Meatloaf Withdrawal Syndrome
But I mainly revived this page to give what I expect to be my final thoughts about the recently concluded Cafeterium Chaldeas event, Soiree Fortuna by Cafeterium Chaldeas.
My attendance was primarily to support a friend who would have an active role in this event so being the supportive friend I am and since this was a weeb cosplay event, I was G.
Got my SSR ticket during the pre-selling and as the event neared, I prepped my comfort cosplay, Joker from Persona 5.
FYI, I'm personally not really big on cosplaying. Prior to Joker, I've only ever done it once. It's an exoensive hobby that I admire people pursuing but I'm probably one to not partake often unless it's a character that I really really REALLY like, and it just happened to be Joker for me.
My friends were hyping the event to the moon so naturally, expectations were high. From the venue, to the setup, and the actual event activities/performances. Then we heard from our friends that when we were seen doing the bs we nornally do in front of an anisong DJ, and the organizers wanted it to be brought to their event. Expectations went higher because we now got the promise of a partial anisong setlist so that we can do the usual stuff we do.
The day of the event came and also my only complaint of the night: A major religious thing that decided to take place on the same afternoon the event started. With no way to get close to the venue due to almost the entire outer perimeter of Intramuros closed, I had to settle parking somewhere close as possible and walking to the venue. So yes, my only gripe is I didn't get to use the parking slot that I paid for.
When I arrived at the event tho... It was great. The venue was well prepped, tables properly distanced, all participants and guest masters looking fabulous, food tasting great (UUUOOOOOAAAAAHHHHHH MEATLOOOOOAAAAAFFFFF), and performers entertaining us.
When the DJ segment came, we did what we were brought in to do. Bring life to the party segment by doing the things we promised.
During a part of the setlist, some dance songs were played and everyone went and did ballroom dancing. Friends paired me up with someone so suddenly. What surprised me is that I still knew how to ballroom dance (yes I do have a little bit of socially acceptable culture in me).
I was so hyped and surprised when we managed to bring a good number of people to join us in:
- Aozora no Rhapsody
- Sugar Song Bitter Step
- Koi Aqua
- Days of Dash
- Diamond City Lights
- Rising Hope
The one thing I cannot forget tho... snowhala blueball. Bawi DJ next time pls hahaha.
Overall, it was a great experience. As you can see, I have no pictures from the event because I just enjoyed the heck out of it. 95% of the time my phone was just kept away for me to enjoy the night.
It was just fun to spend the night with civilized people away from all the drama of the coscomm and just enjoy the night. Met people randomly and interacted with a crowd that I'd like to think that I fit in well with. It's not often degenerates like me find their space and this event helped me find a potentially bigger circle of those peeps that just have chill vibes and enjoying their hobbies/passions all round without the unnecessary issues.
Thank you to all the wonderfull peeps that put the event together. Seriously great job. I'm eagerly awaiting the next event. If the theme suits it, I will heavily revamp my Joker cos and go all out.
Peace out, my dudes. ✌️
