It’s always such a pleasure to talk to some incredibly talented artists, and for our fourth issue, Alex Hallifax sat down with MELODOWNZ. Trust us when we say this six-page spread is not to be missed.

“I met Bronson late one night in Tāmaki Makaurau. I could sense his softness through the way he spoke about his loved ones, community, and his connection with rap music. He was so obviously a truth-seeker, and truth-seekers make for the best kōrero because their actions and words uncover something below the surface. When we met, there was no need to waste time on small talk; Bronson was happy to get right to it. Look, and you shall find the beauty of this man’s humble soul.”

We’re so excited to finally announce that our fourth issue will be all yours March 3rd! We’re so proud of all the mahi we’ve put into this issue and the talented people we were able to connect with. It’s been a long time in the making and we’re stoked to finally get to share it with you!

We’ve themed each issue in the past, but this year, we decided not to analyse the content and instead let whatever came up find a home within these pages. At the end of the day, sharing stories of life on earth is our kaupapa.

Thank you guys for all your support, and we hope you will love this next issue as much as we do!

In the lead-up to the fourth Tora Bombora, we caught up with two longstanding players: Toby Leman and Ben Stewart. Having played in the line-up each year, you may have seen them on stage with HUMMUCIDE, Dr Reknaw or Half Cast. This year, you’ll find them on the sax (Toby) or tickling the keys (Ben) with bands The Gallery and Revulva. We had a chat to hear them reminisce on the last three festivals.
