📚 Happy National Book Lovers Day! 📚 2024 will forever be known as the year I rekindled my love of reading 🥰 I know everyone thanks SJM, so without sounding too trite - I am so grateful for writers who continue to create meaningful stories & have inspired me to never stop reading and writing ✍️
Who knows, maybe someday soon I’ll be able to gift the same to a fellow reader ☺️

The month of May in emoji form 😅😮‍💨🤯🫠 AND we’re only halfway through 🙃

Maybe it’s just the week I’m having but my mind is really trying me right now… second guessing my decisions like crazy, stress dreams, panic attacks all the while being mixed into some amazing moments with friends and family. I guess that’s just the facts of life - take the good with the bad 🤷‍♀️ (and yes, that may or may not have been a nod to one of my fave 80s shows 😆)

Sometimes I think we have to have these moments of doubt to truly understand what we want - not just for ourselves but from ourselves.

It’s so easy to get down on yourself, for whatever reason, and I guess I felt compelled to say - if you’re struggling, I get it. The best thing I’ve found is to talk about it with someone you truly trust & know that it’s only temporary.

Writing has also become an amazing outlet for me to connect with my innermost thoughts and create a character who I hope others will be able to relate to through her human experiences of grief, loss, anxiety, professional achievement, and ultimately love ❤️
p.s. oh yah, I’m still writing my book because I keep finding new ways to enrich the story/main character, which I’ve learned is all part of the process 📝

This year marks 20 years without my dad & I’ve always wanted to get a tattoo in his memory. When I found and saw her beautiful, fine line tattoos - it made me desperately want to find the last card my dad ever wrote to me. I searched for a whole day, through piles of old cards I’d saved over the years and couldn’t believe it when I actually found it!
To have his handwriting etched on me means the world to me ☺️ My sweet friend coming with me to also get a tattoo in honor of her dad, made it that much more special ❤️
I’ll share more soon & highly recommend Christine at Teeny Tattoo Studio if you’re local to Houston & looking for meaningful, fine line tattoos 🤌
p.s. My dad loved Sade and I grew up listening to her albums all the time with him - so when Smooth Operator came on in her studio right after I got my tattoo I knew it was a sign 🥰

That’s what you always showed me from the day I met your son. Nearly 20 years later, I never imagined we’d be back at the first place we met when Grant brought you to my father’s funeral service - and the same place you’ll be laid to rest. To say it out loud brought me to tears today. I can’t put the loss we feel into words but I hope to continue showing the same kind of tenderness and affection to our family that you showed me time and time again. We love you & miss you Pattie ❤️ {p.s. I’ll keep looking for those ladybugs}

Night 2 in San Antonio🌜Pearl District 🌿 We stumbled upon the Historic Pearl on our first family trip to San Antonio and have been coming back ever since. We literally dream about the food from La Gloria & after a long, hot day at SeaWorld we downed so much water, tacos and queso y’all 🤤 But we still found some room for Lick Honest Ice Creams🍦and made it back to Hotel Valencia Riverwalk in time for some live Latin music 🎶
p.s. after all that I may or may not have passed out at 6pm on the hotel bed 😆

Day 2 in San Antonio ~ Belugas, Dolphins & Orcas oh my 🐬
We were all so excited to be hosted again by SeaWorld San Antonio and ended the day with a dip in the Aquatica San Antonio wave pool 🌊
We started the day off with the Beluga show, since we missed it the last time we came a couple years back, and we all fell in love with them - halfway thru the show Cha Cha looked up at me and said “I’m adored with these guys” 😍🤣🥰

Night 1 🌴 in San Antonio ⛴️ Got settled into the beautiful Hotel Valencia Riverwalk & dined at Dorrego's ~ then took the kids on a River cruise with Go Rio Cruises which Cha Cha was “amazed” by 😃

☀️Getting that D3☀️ Saw my endo today after almost a year and she told me the best news…that all my levels looked good 💪 It may not seem like much to some but I’ve struggled most of my life with hypothyroidism coupled with crazy hormones lately (thanks perimenopause) - I think I’m finally seeing the benefits of a more active lifestyle & making my health a priority (both mentally & physically) ☺️
If you’ve been feeling in a rut I hope this gives you a boost to really take care of yourself - go see a doc, take your vitamins, make a lifestyle change, whatever it is you need to feel good cuz you’re worth it 🥰

New beginnings. 💫

I shared in my stories that I quit my job, and today was the first day I was officially “out on my own.”

Tbh it feels strange. Like a weird dream or like Im forgetting to do something. I took a big chance and anytime you do that it seems scary at first, but I’m allowing myself to accept the changes that are coming and that at the end of the day they’ll bring good things my way.

So here’s to a new year of taking risks and betting on ourselves ❤️

How I style my new, blunt mid-length cut 💇‍♀️ S L E E K is the name of the game these days and I’ve been having fun styling my darker and shorter hair 💁‍♀️

Step 1 ~ Spray with Quick Blowout heat protectant spray
Step 2 ~ I start by sectioning off my hair & using the hair dryer brush to dry my hair in 3 or 4 layers
Step 3 ~ Run straightening brush on 350-370 degrees over all my hair
Step 4 ~ Finish with oval dressing brush for extra shine

POV: Back to school style, but for moms 👓

Took our Gmonkey to get mommy & me eye exams last weekend - cuz I’m cool like that 🤓 He didn’t end up needing glasses (which if there’s one kid that would be bummed about that, it would be our kid 😆)

I on the other hand, desperately needed an updated prescription & learned there’s such a thing as “computer glasses” - who knew? So I went back to my favorite site DiscountGlasses.com and ordered the same “Westend Wyndham Ridge” style but this time got them in comfort fit, blue light blocking, and in a darker tortoise shade - I LOVE THEM Y’ALL 😍😍

Now that everyone’s kiddos are officially back in school, don’t forget to take care of yourself mamas - even if it just means some cool new glasses 😉
