Dear friends,
we are happy to announce the new release in the NBB editions catalogue:

For double bass (cello/viola) and string quartet (string orchestra) rev. Federico Bagnasco
https://nbbrecords.com/product/the-nights-pdf/
From the introductory notes by Federico Bagnasco:
".. The Nights originated as a composition for solo double bass and string quartet, created in the early 2000s, performed by Bosso himself on the double bass and by the Turin String Quartet.. Ezio Bosso played a double bass tuned as a soloist with the fourth string lowered, from low E B E A. This edition features both the part with solo tuning (as originally planned) and the part in traditional orchestral tuning.."
From the introductory notes by Alberto Bocinii:
" .. I have always admired Ezio as a double bass soloist for his innate sense of sound and the many colors, the quality of his vibrato, capable of reaching peaks of rare intensity, and of course for the stories he always knew how to tell, even through the instrument...Ezio crossed the double bass scene in a totally independent way. He was unique, not attributable to existing models or schools, his approach was completely personal, but always of great artistic depth.
His contribution to the double bass scene has been as intense as it was fleeting .... About twenty years after “Sentido Unico” I am happy to be able to contribute to the diffusion of “The Nights”, his work for solo double bass with string accompaniment, a delicate and atmospheric piece, which I am convinced will enter the repertoire of many double bass players. ..”
Friday 2nd August at 9.30pm in Piazza Duomo in Salò (BS) in the presence of Tommaso Bosso, who will introduce the concert recalling his uncle's musical legacy, "The Nights" will be performed by Fabrizio Buzzi on the double bass accompanied by Enrico Fagone and the Orchestra Bottesini, a unique opportunity to listen to this unreleased piece by Ezio Bosso destined to enter the repertoire of many double bass players to come
