"John Lee, 69 — a former state legislator and ex-North Las Vegas mayor — was once a Democrat.

"But three years ago, disappointed with his party’s policies, Lee jumped ship, garnering national attention as he became the first elected official to leave the Democrats during the Biden administration.

One expert said the tax-free payoff could hit five figures for some workers. Rep. Though she spent a significant portion of her talk ripping Trump, the Democratic presidential nominee regurgitated one of his signature ideas at the top of her stump speech at the battleground state.

ONLINE NOW, BREAKING: LAS VEGAS — Robert F. Kennedy Jr. promised a FreedomFest audience an “America Strong” unity government that would aim to end decades of division.

“I pledge to appoint a cabinet comprising members of the Democratic Party, Republican Party, Libertarian Party, and people from the Green Party and other parties and parties outside the political process,” the environmental lawyer and anti-vax activist told the crowd at Caesars Forum.

He said he would “convene a cross-partisan advisory committee to propose and select Supreme Court justices” and “pardon or commute the sentences of any people who have been politically prosecuted, [and] this includes Ross Ulbricht,” creator of the Silk Road “darknet” website, currently serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

He said neither President Biden nor former President Donald Trump can solve the crisis of division.

May 31 marks my last day at The Washington Times, concluding 3 years and two weeks on staff. I am deeply grateful for the experience and the many friendships formed along the way.

Next month (next week, in fact), I join the New York Post as a national reporter covering the swing state elections here in Nevada. That I reside in the bustling metropolis known as the City of Mesquite, Nevada helps immensely in this new role. More details to follow, and prayers are always welcome!
