The quality of those old, REAL film photos from the yester-years is just… magical sometimes. Digitizing these photos takes a good bit of care to preserve this magic too.

This photo is from the ‘70s… and yes, for some of us, the realization that was 50 years ago is unbelievable… these youngsters are now in their 60s!

But now they can see themselves all over again. Loved ones who may no longer be here, but the treasured moments can be seen all over again.

I don’t get too many photo slides to digitize, but when I do, there’s a lot! 1960’s up to about 1989’s… and over a thousand of them!

But I’m glad to digitize them for my client. I put TLC in handling every slide, at the highest quality possible for viewing and prints (just incase my client would like to print them).

Another happy customer, who had a large number of tapes of different types, digitized and ready to enjoy all over again. I had to do some surgery on one tape to save the memories from tape breakage, as sugary liquid was accidentally dripped inside.

These saved memories will be shared easily with family members, and kept safe from decay and loss.

I'd like to reach out to my followers to see if YOU have an old 16mm film projector. It would look like the two photos I'm posting, and a label with the number "16mm" somewhere. Usually all metal, so it would be heavy.

I would be willing to compensate in some way for this vintage piece of film equipment. This would open up a whole new avenue of digitizing 16mm films for clients, and saving precious memories for them to relive all over again.

A recent client of mine found an old black and white, silent 8mm film reel and wanted to see what was on it. Turns out to be an animated short!

Even though it wasn’t family memories, he was delighted to finally solve the mystery. Glad to be of service.

It still is amazing to me how much footage can be packed into these little thumbnail drives.

-27 tapes (a mixture of old 8mm and MiniDV tapes).
-1,620 minutes or 27 hours worth of family memories.
-One 32GB thumb drive with some room to spare.

It’s a lot of work, but those old family memories are priceless. Let me do the work and help preserve your tapes, DVDs, film reels, etc!

What a wonderful memory!

This little clip of family fun came from a MiniDV tape, and my client had no idea what was on it. Their MiniDV camera has been long gone, and they wanted to make sure they had their memories digitized and saved before it was too late.

Good thing they decided to get the tape digitized! This long time forgotten memory will now be cherished longer, and will be passed on to their children and children's children. After all, this tape is now 20 years-ish old. These little ones are now adults, and the next generation is coming.

For those interested, my video production setup is almost all video equipment. I’m using the 6K Cinema Pocket Camera, connected to the ATEM Mini Pro ISO video switcher. This setup helps mainly to expedite the editing process greatly, but easily offers professional live-streaming capabilities as well.

Christmas and other holidays are coming, and one of the most impactful gifts you can give are your family's memories!

I have witnessed many emotional reactions when old films, tapes, audio cassettes etc. were thought to be lost, but through my digitization of these old forms of media to a DVD or digital file, loved ones can watch them all over again. And to do it for Christmas time makes it a thousand times better...

Sometimes, you don't have the time, the funds, or perhaps just very cautious of handing over precious memories to a complete stranger or far-off company to digitize.

If you are not ready to digitize those old memories (old films, tapes, photos, etc), give your memories the storage space that will help them last longer without further damage. This article from B&H is EXCELLENT guide to saving photo and motion film.

It was my pleasure to help this couple digitize their wedding from 17 years ago! They had two different camera angles recording, so I was also able to edit together the two tapes into one wedding video.

While their wedding was recorded on MiniDV tapes and in pristine condition, who still has the video camera to watch them? With my help, not only did they get a DVD of their wedding, they also got a thumb drive with the digital video files. This makes it easier for them to share their videos with family over the internet if they wish to.

It’s been a VERY long time since my last update, but I’m still saving precious memories for my clients.

My latest client had seven VHS tapes with over 14 hours of family footage. Memories as far back as the early 1980’s are now safe! All 14 hours fit on just one of these thumb drives, and my client wanted three more copies for his children. Plus, a single DVD for just their wedding.

So happy to preserve something so valuable!
