The Rival Duke The Rival is an independent, online publication run entirely by students. We seek to capture an authentic student voice reflective of Duke's unique culture

Our goals are simple. We seek to capture an authentic student voice, move campus journalism into the digital age, promote both creativity and informational integrity, and bring student communities together. The Rival is an authentic and progressive take on journalism. Our writing styles range from satirical news and comical rants to investigative pieces and breaking news. We believe this diversity

accurately represents the variety a student expects when looking for news online. Independent from the University, our aim is to promote student discussion with no institutional filter. We believe that students will think more critically if peers are raising issues through individual and unique student perspectives. The Rival is here to capture a native student voice and reflect the unique culture of Duke University. We believe our authenticity engages students, and accurately reflects a true student voice.
