Twin birthdays in The Hanlon Crew today.

Brother Paul would be 64. We miss him--honor him with some really bad puns!

And Brother Angus Vaughan is an undetermined age. The Wee Man is a bad pun... 🙂

Joe Deninzon has got to be one of the busiest guys in rock music. For over a year, he’s been the violinist for the legendary band Kansas — which is in the midst of an extensive 50th-anniversary tour. But Joe’s other focus is his group Stratospheerius… which melds rock, jazz, classical, and a...

October 2, 2012, Patty and I were in Nashville. A visit to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Some outstanding barbecue. And the highlight--a show with Neal Morse and band (and a chance to re-meet the guys afterward). To paraphrase Bill Murray in Groundhog Day..."Now THAT was a pretty good birthday." Note the photo. This was Adson Sodre's 2nd gig as lead guitarist. And Mike Portnoy had already wandered off someplace. Oh, well.

A bit more mundane today--but I'm still blessed to have so many friends. And I'll listen to a bit of Neal today...

Leonid & Friends was just outstanding, Friday night at the Palladium in Carmel, IN.

Hit after hit from Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, and others.

This is the selfie shot at the end. I'm just behind and to the right of the guy (on the left) In the baseball jersey. Patty is hiding from the camera (but loved the show).

The last Cracker Barrel run of Morsefest18—this time with Mr. Morse himself.

In the middle of the breakfast, Dave Billington, Paul Hanlon and I all got on our phones to do a pre-order of one of Neal's albums--making sure we got signed copies. Right in front of Neal. He laughed.

One of these men--the guy on the left--is a great drummer. The other two are Nick D'Virgilio (Big Big Train) and Jimmy Keegan (Pattern-Seeking Animals).

Happy birthday to brother, friend, Hanlon Crew member and prayer warrior Martyn Howe. I won't tell you his age, but Paul McCartney once sang about it...

Happiest of birthdays to my skinny, handsome Cuban nieto Joel Barrios - Photography That Rocks. A master of photography and so much more, and one who keeps me up to date on music.

Have a blessed one!

The Cracker Barrel at White House, TN is the unofficial hangout for the Hanlon Crew. It's within walking distance of the hotel--and the Brits are fascinated by the food and all the items for sale.

The first photo is from September 3, 2015, the debut of The Hanlon Crew. The second is from September 3, 2019, the final in-person gathering featuring Paul himself.

Most years, we capped off MF by going out with Neal and Cherie Morse. With Paul gone, I cherish the memories....

If you're looking for some great and eclectic music, you can't do better than checking out Simon Godfrey's new solo album. "How I Was Defeated" is a remarkable production. Singer/songwriter but so much more.

It's available as a download on BandCamp. Get it.

The Wayfarers Chapel in Southern California. It blends into the beauty of nature--the woods, the nearby ocean--in a way that makes it special. People who visit say it has a remarkable holiness.

But nature has damaged the chapel, forcing it to close, maybe to relocate. What happens to the building's famed holiness when all that happens?

A Spirit that never dies. The worship from Poplar Grove this morning at 9:30 EDT. In-person and on Facebook Live. Join us and feel the Spirit move you.

Every album has a backstory—and the debut release of Harpazo has an unusual one. It began about 15 years ago when Shadow Gallery vet Gary Wehrkamp was giving guitar lessons to Mark Centanni. At some point, Centanni mentioned some ideas he had for a concept album — one with apocalyptic visions of...

The similitude of a flashback Sunday...

On this day 10 years ago, we visited the Bunhill Fields Cemetery in London, where--among others--John Bunyan is buried. He wrote the classic Pilgrim's Progress. (note the hiking character on the side of the stone).

Eight years ago today, I sat in an SUV in a SoCal parking lot with Randy and Pamela George, listening to the first 30 minutes of The Neal Morse Band's yet-to-be-released album The Similitude of a Dream. Which was based on John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress.

Please feel free to play the Twilight Zone theme....
