Hydrate frequently, avoid strenuous outdoor activities during peak hours, and seek shade or air-conditioned spaces when possible. Cooling centers and community pools are great options to escape the heat. Remember, safety first! ☀️
The NYC Emergency Management Department & Health Departments advises New Yorkers to prepare for high heat starting tomorrow, June 18, 2024. The heat index is forecasted to possibly reach 100 degrees, which is can be deadly and life threatening. People without air conditioning, older adults, and people with chronic health conditions are most at risk.
Due to high temperatures and heat indices, NYC cooling centers will be open to the public. Cooling centers are air-conditioned facilities such as libraries, community centers, senior centers, and NYCHA facilities that are open to the public during heat emergencies. Preparedness Actions:
- Avoid strenuous activity
- Stay hydrated and stay out of the sun
- Partake in activities to keep cool, such as swimming or indoor activities
- Active children, adults, and people with lung disease such as asthma should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors

What should I do DURING an earthquake?
If you are INDOORS -- STAY THERE! Get under a desk or table and hang on to it (Drop, Cover, and Hold on!) or move into a hallway or against an inside wall. STAY CLEAR of windows, fireplaces, and heavy furniture or appliances. GET OUT of the kitchen, which is a dangerous place (things can fall on you). DON'T run downstairs or rush outside while the building is shaking or while there is danger of falling and hurting yourself or being hit by falling glass or debris.
If you are OUTSIDE -- get into the OPEN, away from buildings, power lines, chimneys, and anything else that might fall on you.
If you are DRIVING -- stop, but carefully. Move your car as far out of traffic as possible. DO NOT stop on or under a bridge or overpass or under trees, light posts, power lines, or signs. STAY INSIDE your car until the shaking stops. When you RESUME driving, watch for breaks in the pavement, fallen rocks, and bumps in the road at bridge approaches.
If you are in a MOUNTAINOUS AREA -- watch out for falling rock, landslides, trees, and other debris that could be loosened by quakes.

Although this may appear as a , we h a several concerns regarding what does Pause means and the lack of communication from our Elected Officials regarding the plan for the site.
A meeting was scheduled for tomorrow at the YMCA. However, the space could not be reserved. Please join me at 6:45 in front of the YMCA to help me inform attendees and share the next steps:
