Client Spotlight: Food AND Medicine (FAM) is a grassroots member-based organization that works to address the root causes of poverty with the guiding principle of solidarity, not charity. Based in Maine, FAM empowers and involves those directly affected by poverty and food insecurity to take an active, leadership role in bringing awareness and change. Concerted Action provides ongoing support for FAM as part of the Organizers Helpdesk program, ensuring that staff and volunteers have the training and support that they need to fully utilize digital organizing tools including Action Network and Action Builder.

"Wells Fargo employees at two of the bank's branches filed for union elections on Monday, laying the groundwork for potential unionization in an industry that has largely been immune to such labor campaigns."

Once regarded as stable professional careers, the financial sector has aggressively pursued a 'race to the bottom' mentality, mirroring trends seen in other industries. Beyond the common issues of compensation and benefits, bank workers grapple with unique challenges stemming from corporate-driven predatory lending practices, unethical sales targets, and an atomization of work.

The Committee for Better Banks (a long-term Concerted Action client) is rallying workers in the sector including the Well Fargo Workers United union efforts. This latest development builds upon prior milestones, including the first successful union contract in this sector in over four decades.

Successful campaigns like this involve multifaceted strategies, but a big part of it has always been the digital lead organizing efforts our team has supported. Our team has championed various efforts such as organic and paid social media, online-to-offline lead generation, community building on several platforms, video content creation, email outreach, SMS communications, and more.

Big congrats to the workers taking this next step. We stand in solidarity with you in this ongoing fight!
