For “Taylor Mac’s 24-Decade History of Popular Music,” the model of a concert film for us was Stop Making Sense, with its great style, its proximity to performers and performance, where you feel the sweat — but we wanted our film to have context from the creators. So we filmed a photo shoot and costume changes, with action interviews with the other virtuosos involved - costume designer Machine Dazzle, music director Matt Ray, makeup artist Anastasia Durasova,– and this became the underpinnings for the concert material. Here we are on set with producers Linda Brumbach and Alisa Regas and our long-time collaborators cinematographer Buddy Squires and sound recordist Mark Roy. Oh, and Taylor too!
