Stomping Grounds (2021)

Had the opportunity to be the Director of Photography and Camera Operator on Sam Wells' final masters project a couple of weeks ago. Had a great time on set and it was a great learning experience shooting the film over three days.

I met some very wonderful and talented people during the shoot. Both cast and crew were incredible and performed extremely well. It was a pleasure meeting every one of you and I wish you all the best for the future.

A few Behind the Scenes photographs from the shoot of my Camera & Lighting short film project 🎥

Probably my favourite shot I've ever created. I was inspired by "Spalovač mrtvol" (The Cremator, 1969) to transition the character from one location to another using only a singular move.

I set up the actor's background to look as close to the interior shots as possible - using an open aperture to emphasise the blue and pink lighting. Then using a park roundabout, the camera and actor spun at the same time to reveal a new location - a swing. A change in time can also been seen by the slight change in costume as the actor pulls up his hood.

Did some filming yesterday for journalism student Joseph Hatton about Manchester-based charity "Coffee 4 Craig."

The package included a piece to camera in Piccadilly Gardens, as well as shots of the city of Manchester.
