Only a few hours to go until voting opens !!
現在、世界中で猛威を奮う新型コロナウィルスの影響により、錦鯉業界も品評会等が自粛せざるを得ない状況となっております。
The Niigata Division of the Shinkokai has announced further information regarding the International Nishikigoi Web GP and the official information in English will be published shortly.
The idea is that there will be an online competition to judge koi in one size class up to 36cm. There will be 2 entry classes, one for Gosanke, and the other for Non Gosanke, and each will have an overall winner.
The competition will be open for any koi that was bred by a Japanese Shinkokai breeder, however the koi does not still need to be in Japan, so if it has already been shipped to a customer anywhere in the world it can still be entered.
All entries need to be made via a Japanese Shinkokai Member, by sending them a clear picture (remember this is the one that will be used for voting). Hobbyists may find it easier to contact their dealer who can organise the entries.
The system is currently being set up, and entries can be made between April 20th and 26th, so there is plenty of time to get a good picture ready. The pictures will be available to view via PC or Smartphone, but voting will be limited to smartphone only
The voting period will be from 09:00 Japan Tme on April 27th until 17:00 Japan Time on May 7th, during which time all entries will be published, and everyone is encouraged to take part and vote for their favourite koi in both the Go Sanke and Non Gosake classes
Results will be published on the 8th May, and there will be an official presentation of the 2 awards at the next International Junior Koi Show Party
Most importantly there is no charge to enter your koi, so there is nothing stopping anyone taking part and having fun

Update to March Koi Events in Japan
Due to the current situation regarding the Corona Virus, and in accordance with recommendations from the Japanese Government, there have been numerous changes to the forthcoming schedule of events in Japan
In consideration of the health and safety of attending customers, many auction events have been changed to Silent/Sealed/Secret/Blind format, to avoid the need for a large gathering of people in such a confined space.
For anyone not understanding this format, instead of the auction taking place "live", each bidder is invited to submit their written offer, and this remains secret until the auction closes. Once the auction has finished, all bids will be checked and the highest one wins (subject to meeting any minimum/reserve values set).
To allow dealers time to visit the various farms and check the fish, or request videos etc, the closing times for some auctions have been extended from the original dates.
