How to learn from each others’ PhD projects, find collaboration possibilities, and bridge the gap between science and society? These questions led a small group of PhD students from the Amsterdam School of Communication Research (ASCoR) to set up the blog “Communicating Communication.” The aim of the blog is to let international PhD students in communication science write about their research proj
ects, insightful findings, the implications for society, innovative research ideas, or simply about their life and experiences as a PhD student. In doing so, the blog provides PhDs a platform where they can connect with each other, identify similar research interests, collaborate in new projects or discuss ongoing research. Furthermore, experts from the field of communication provide insights in their daily work and current issues in practice, aiming to inspire future research and thereby bridging the gap between science and society. So far, you can read on the blog about various topics from PhDs and practitioners alike, such as the question on whether discontent should be expressed online, how to deal with right-wing extremism in mass media, the era of the spoiled consumer, or a recap of a PhD career event, questioning what the future as a graduate might bring. The blog went online in July 2015 and provides new posts from international PhDs in communication science and communication practitioners every two weeks. If you are a PhD student in communication science or someone from communication practice who would like to contribute to this blog, please feel free to send an email to: [email protected]
