*****New Jersey | New York*****

This weekend was, by far, one of the best weekends I’ve had doing comedy this year.

Every show I was on had its own special vibe and I loved every second of it.

To my dear friend, Jennifer , you’re probably sick of hearing me tell you how much I loved how organized you are. It was so nice to show up and have the game plan down to every detail laid out for me. It alleviated any anxiety I had about hosting and being present for the show. You are my hero! Thank you again for having me.

And to one of my favorite people in NYC, , thanks for giving me a last minute spot at your club. It meant the world to me that I didn’t have to ask and I will always remember your generosity. I love you, always.

And , thank you for letting me jump on your show. I had so much fun and can’t wait to do it again on the west coast and wherever else you’ll have me!

NY crowds are amazing and I can’t wait to come back and see y’all again next year!

*****NEW YORK*****
It’s good to be back in this city doing comedy.

There’s a rumor that NY crowds are hardcore and hard to win over, and if that’s true, then I think I did a good job at winning them over.

Thank you for inviting me out and letting me be a part of such a beautiful and intimate gathering. I love what you said about “finding pockets of light and joy” even in the midst of your biggest heartache. It’s given me permission to do the same and I’m grateful for that. 🙏

My heart is so full and I’m so grateful for this journey to do what I love.

It’s never too late to give your all to something you’re passionate about.

As a matter of fact, it’s time that you do. The world needs it.

Thank you, NYC, until next time…

This show was one of the highlights of my year performing.

I’ve worked for a lot of great producers but .isnt.funny set the bar with his generosity and kindness.

The crowd was so warm and inviting and I had a few come up to me afterwards to chat it up - which I loved.

I was blessed to share the stage with , .jay.ig, .im.mike.comedy, and the lovely ; all of whom had their own unique comedic style and was top notch in their own way.

I can see why this show was voted one of the best comedy shows in San Diego. The entire production reeks of quality. And I’m here for it.

Thank you .isnt.funny for having me. I can’t wait to do it again.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure and privilege to lend a hand at in Chandler, AZ at and I must say, the festival is in a league of its own.

I was there to bear witness to new stars being discovered and career trajectories being altered…

and the gravity of what was at stake was so palpable.

Every minute of the fest, from noon to midnight, was packed with connection and laughter and good vibes…

Oh so many good vibes.

I can’t wait to see the stars discovered here get their turn on the world stage…

Because they’re gonna light that bitch on fire!

A big congratulations to all the comics who won best of fest, it was well deserved and I’m thrilled for you!

Sending Big hugs and big love…

31/08/2023

I had a set last night at The Comedy Store in La Jolla, and it was the first time I felt the precision in my performance all the way through.

No one sees the work you put in behind closed doors to get good at something.

They only see the results.

Last December I decided to write a brand new set and develop my own creative process for my stand up.

And if you’ve known me for any length of time, you know I’ve always done things in my own way and in my own time.

What I do defies the traditional way of doing comedy.

You write jokes.
You go to an open mic and try jokes.
They land or they don’t.
You refine jokes.
Rinse.
Repeat.

Unfortunately, (as much as I wanted to do it this way) it just didn’t work for my life.

I couldn’t justify missing doing bedtime with my son every night of the week to pursue my dream.

I wanted to do both. I want to be there for my son. And I want to do stand up.

I used to believe that I had to sacrifice everything to pursue the dream.

But that was when I had nothing to lose.

And losing too much time with my son is something I’ll never get back, so I had to ask myself an important question.

“How can I stay committed to my family and the dream without losing too much time with my son?”

So I decided to buck convention and figure out a way to do both.

I wrote my new material. Rented a rehearsal room. Took my material, a mic, mic stand, and a pen and got to work.

I stretch & dance, do vocal warm ups & sing, practice memorizing my material, then practice performing my material.

I practice every pause, every facial expression, hit every movement…

And then I get on shows and tweak the material until it feels right.

I know I’m missing out on a lot of opportunities that other people get from going to open mics, but I’m okay with that.

My way ensures that I have a healthy relationship with my craft and my capacity to stay present with my family.

Pursuing any dream is hard. But doing it when you have a family and other adult responsibilities is exponentially harder.

But you all know that saying, “if there’s a will, there’s a way.”

And when you find the way, doors will open and you just have to walk through them.

Getting into the made my entire year. And I’m so grateful for all of the super cool comics I’ve met and have gotten to hang out with.

I’m headed back up today from SD for a class and wish that I had committed to coming up for the entire week.

It’s been so fun and so enlightening!

Can’t wait for the next one.

- These pics are from June 22, 2023 - Belly Room -

When I started this journey back into stand up comedy, I kept reminding myself that a lot could happen in year and to keep going…

No matter what.

I went to my first open mic on January 12, 2022.

Did my first show on March 25, 2022.

And did my first show with on May 25, 2022.

I’m a year and a half in and I can’t believe how far I’ve come.

What this journey has taught me is to believe in myself and my creative process…

And I’m constantly reminded that everyone is on their own journey and have their own story to live into and tell.

I love that I get to do this and be a vessel for good times and on some level, a conduit for healing.

I love making people laugh.
I love the sound of laughter.
I love that laughter connects us.

You. And Me.

Thank you to everyone who has come out to a show and supported me.

For those of you who haven’t, come through, and give me a chance to win you over.

Love,

~L

Last year, I went to my very first show in the Belly Room.

That night, I saw myself performing there.

Welcome To The She Shed!

Hi everyone, welcome to She Shed Comedy Podcast, I'm your host Linda Schwartz!

I started this podcast with the intention to serve and support women who are pursuing a career in comedy, to create community, and be a place of inspiration for those of us who are taking this unconventional path. It can be a lonely road, but it doesn't have to be.

I will be interviewing women who are currently working in comedy (writing, stand-up, improv, sketch comedy, etc...) and hope to facilitate a lighthearted, soulful, and meaningful conversation about their journey in the comedy world. The show's focus isn't necessarily to "be funny", but I'm sure there will be funny moments; my hope is that my guest(s) and I will have authentic sharing that will help guide and inspire you in your career in comedy.

I truly believe that Empowered Women, Empower Women, and I hope that this show will make a difference for you. We would love your support and ask that you download the show, engage in the community, and share the content.
