Susan Claire Agbayani’s post:
Grief. Over the loss of my father, beloved father-in-law, an older sister (barely two years older than me), a much younger half-sister, a very young nephew, an aunt, an uncle, a cousin-in-law, a very dear friend from college (and one of my great loves), our landlady and landlord. All in a span of 34 months.
The only proper goodbye we had was just with our tita Nena. The rest were distant. Far from us because they were overseas; or were in the hospital and were cremated right away.
Or we were asked to practice "social distancing". The cordon sanitaire with the most important people in our lives was unbelievable, and so heartbreaking.
And that profound collective loss after the elections? Especially for those who volunteered their time and effort?
And I'm trying my best to not feel hurt by this set of people who are not related to me by blood but are considered family.
I guess, you really just have to choose your battles. And shield yourself from all the pain.
P.S. Having said all that, I must start writing now. Thirty to 50 pages.
P.P.S. Mahirap kasing magsulat kung iyak ka na lang nang iyak.
