Established 1996, Susy's been running RSLs on AM/FM for the last 16 years and launched as a full time community station on July 15th, 2012 at 12 noon. We are Redhill, Reigate, Gatwick, Crawley and the surrounding villages one and only true locally run radio station.

Join the Susy Radio Roadshow this Saturday evening as we build up to these spectacular fireworks with fun and games for the young people and the mums, dads, carers, aunts and uncles! Plenty of sweets to be won!

It’s not on air, so you have to be there!

Plenty of hard standing, gravel and paved areas.

Do bring a torch and wear reflective jackets if you have one to complete the short walk from the car parking. Limited disabled parking at the Bell.

If driving in the area the Bell is located on a corner close to Outwood Windmill. Please slow down to a walking pace as you approach as there will be pedestrians on the road as no pavements.

Plans for new homes in a high rise tower block alongside the redevelopment of Redhill railway station have been rejected by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council’s Planning Committee. Over 2,000 letters of objection were sent. As well as the height of the tower blocks, complaints included the loss of 40 car parking spaces at the station and potential congestion around Redstone Hill.

A Susy Radio newsreader is about to get hot under the collar! David Walker will be facing his fears as he attempts to walk across burning coals next month to raise funds for a Sutton based hospice. David says this is something he’s always wanted to achieve and now he has the opportunity whilst raising funds for a good cause.

Today would have been Radio Mercurys 40th Birthday. Sadly this local station sold out to the big conglomerates of broadcasting and was lost forever. What replaced them is now very much not local. This is where Susy Radio came in launching as a community radio station in 2012 and although the studios are not in Crawley our transmitter is near to the old Mercury one on Reigate Hill. Yes we do have amongst our presenters some from Radio Mercury. With the late great Radio Mercury’s Ed Stewart being a major part of helping us get going and regularly visiting us and broadcasting with us right up until he passed away. The Susy Radio ethos is to support local although on a different frequency 103.4 fm we are there for Crawley as well as the other towns of Redhill, Reigate, Horley and of course Gatwick very much as Radio Mercury did. Urgent local traffic update

Gatton Bottom, Merstham (by the church) closed both directions due to a serious Road Traffic Incident involving an overturned vehicle. Traffic is diverting via Rocky Lane to the Golf Club and Reigate Hill. We suggest routing via Reigate and useing the A217 to reach the M25 J8 or via A23 and making the authorised U turn back onto the A23 and joining the M25 that way.

Last month five children, treated by Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, joined the annual children’s Magical Taxi Tour to Disneyland. The children, who were selected for their courage in the face of chronic illnesses, embarked on a three-day journey to Disneyland Paris in a convoy of more than 90 London taxis. The event is now in its 30th year and this is the 7th year that SASH has participated, with the dedicated hospital team ensuring their children’s safety throughout the trip. All drivers volunteer their time and vehicles.

England and Chelsea footballer and local resident, Millie Bright, has been awarded the title of Honorary Freewoman of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead for services to sport. A private ceremony took place at the Town Hall where she received the award from the Mayor, Councillor Eddy Humphreys. Representatives attended from various local football clubs that she has supported over the years. Millie said she is grateful to be given the honorary title of the place that has become her home. She becomes the first woman to hold the title in the Borough’s fifty year history.
