Most authors know are frustrated by not having enough time to write. Try this: carve 20 minutes out of one day to figure out where your time is going. I suspect you will find some wasted moments. Schedule a reasonable amount of time (maybe just 30 minutes a day) just for your writing. Yes, I said SCHEDULE and then be faithful to it for one week. You will be surprised at how much you will accomplish.

One of the most popular genres in writing is Memoir/Autobiography. Do you have an interesting personal story you can write? Use beginning, middle, and end in your creation. Make sure your work is well-written, then well-edited. Have a wonderful cover designed. Set up your marketing plan. Publish. There you have it: a successful book!

Do you need to add s*x to sell your fiction? S*x sells? Not really says the pundits. Less is more in the case of s*x covers and scenes. Will they or won’t they is a good mantra to follow when writing sweet romances. Teasing versus candid description will add an attractive element to your fiction. Remember, the best-selling and most profitable genre is romance.

Do Not Disturb is probably one of the most important features of your cell phone. Studies have found that people use their cell phones anywhere from 56 minutes to 171 minutes PER DAY for non-work distractions. It can take up to 23 minutes to refocus after one of these distractions plus work errors increase at that point. If you set it up right, emergency calls can still get through. Shut off your phone when writing!

Fiction characters need personality. Give them good and bad traits, details, back history--enrich your characters and make them believable.

Are you writing a story or incident? A story builds, climaxes, then resolves. An incident is a simple statement of an act that happened. Make your fiction a readable story.

Problems with dialogue? Make it realistic. Read it aloud and listen to your words. People speak simply, in short bursts. Dialogue doesn't work well in long paragraphs--that's a monologue.
