Today, I turn 37! Which is a total relief because I thought I was 37 this whole past year and just never could shake it! It's like a breath of fresh air to finally be thirty-SEVEN! 🤣

Birthdays always allow time for reflecting and thinking about what I might want to shift moving forward and this year is no different. It just so happens that the past few weeks have been a whirlwind. Intense and difficult which is always challenging BUT I love what God reveals in these times.

So tonight as I'm beginning a new year I am thinking mostly about what I'm grateful for and secondly, about what I want this next year to be.

I take this life pretty dang seriously and don't want to regret my time on this Earth. I'm proud of what I've done with my first 37 years but I've got some more to do. Let's do this. 🌎

Trying to be what you think people want you to be is a deadly trap. You can waste your life trying to make everyone happy and miss your calling in this life.

Don’t worry about trying to please people. Just be yourself, walk with God, and He will take care of the rest.

One of the absolute certainties I have is that you should be transforming. Every year of your life with God… well, every month, every week, every day you should be growing into something more beautiful than you have ever been before.

Life with God is revolutionary. This doesn’t mean that everything or everyone around you changes. This means that God can do great work within you, and it will change everything.

What role does struggle play in the adventure God has for you?

It's easy to think that after we act on an idea that God has given us, that things will be easy, successful and that we cannot fail because this is from God. I'm sorry to tell you, this isn't always the case.

I have found that when we act on the big ideas, the ones directly correlated with the call God has placed on our life, we will face struggle...and a lot of it. Possibly the most struggle we have experienced in our life.

The struggle can begin to make us question if we heard God correctly or if we are even on the right path. The beautiful part is that you were literally created to conquer these struggles. And when you do conquer them, you come one step closer to fully stepping into the adventure God created you for.

Every adventure starts with this one simple thing....

It will introduce itself to you. It will revisit you. It will catch you off guard. It will surprise you and make you uncomfortable.

I'm talking about an idea. God sends ideas our way to keep us connected to our purpose and our adventure. We then have the choice to foster that idea or say no thanks. Both choices come with a cost and consequences, but only one leads us to our true adventure that God created for us.

Yesterday, I was 1 of 5 presenters for an event that Soroptomist hosted at our Junior High! 🌎

This is my 3rd year being a part of this. They have food, games, prizes, and do workshops on different topics that girls would like.

My topic this year was makeup. We did a very basic makeup talk, but spent most of our time encouraging the girls to embrace what they love about themselves and use makeup to highlight their beauty and not try to be something different.

The best part of the event was when I asked each girl their favorite part of their face. Most of them quickly answered, “eyes”, “lips”, “cheeks”, “eyelashes”, “nose”. I loved hearing these young girls so easily name the awesome trait they possessed!

I find that beauty comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and it is those differences that really should be celebrated! 🤍

Shout out to having 2 older sisters who will get you ready for your hot rod. To be clear, she road her bike for less than a minute and then was done! Lol! You can see by her face she was NOT impressed. Good times. 🤣

Am I the only person who used to think that when I struggled, I was doing something wrong?

Well, those days are LONG gone!

I now understand that struggling is a part of walking with God; in fact, I get concerned if I don’t have something I am struggling with.

The only question is are you struggling because you are stepping into your destiny, and it is hard OR are you struggling because you are outside of God’s plan, and you aren’t being fulfilled?

Look at your habits. I'm talking about your morning routines, what you do at the end of a busy day, what choices you make throughout the day, etc...

How many of these habits do you believe can be matched with the adventure and call that God has placed in your heart?

Today, I want to share more with you about the "One Idea Rule." It has given me so many AHA moments about what tasks fulfill me in life and what tasks drain me. It's such a great starting place to understanding if we are heading in the direction of the adventure God has for us!

🤍 People change. 🤍

When Carter and I got married we were both 19 years old.

I remember telling him after we got married, “Don't buy me flowers, it’s such a waste of money.” After all, we were 2 TEENAGERS who needed to be mindful of our cash flow!!! 🤣

Honestly, that’s how I felt for years. And then something started to change. I started seeing the value in fresh flowers. The beauty they offer and the joy they bring!

So several years ago, I told Carter I changed my mind, “Buy me flowers. I love flowers.”

This is our 24th Valentine's Day together and I can tell you that my taste in gifts is far from the only thing that has changed.

It's not just the gifts that look different! It's our whole season of life. I haven’t even seen my Valentine since 6:30 am this morning when he left the house. I’ve spent the day at Kids Valentine’s Day parties, he worked (he did drop by these amazing flowers and some yummy chocolate covered strawberries), and now this evening has been filled with kids sports! Hoping to snag a kiss from my Valentine soon! 💋

People change. Seasons change. Life changes.

If you want to have a relationship that lasts, one of the skills you must master is learning to adapt. Adapt to change and find a way to make it work together.

Also! If you live in Carthage, these amazing flowers came form Florette!! I LOVE THEM!

Discouraging update:

First, let me say this, I teach women how to take the Adventure God has for them and one of the main things we have to learn is that “without problems there is no adventure”. I have learned this time and time again and cannot state how true this is!

HOWEVER!!

Even though we know this, it doesn’t make any of our problems fun to go through!

Example:

I know I’m called to do this Kickstart, so I’m doing it.

I knew I needed to create a Guide to simplify this process. And I LOVE having little packages sent to people with beautiful pages to help support their process to clarity!

BUT!

What I don’t love is mailing stuff. In fact, I hate mailing stuff and tend to get anxious and dread it an inappropriate amount of dread. 😂

I’ve mailed many things and made many mistakes, so I often send myself a little “test” package to make sure I have it all correct. (Postage, timing, etc.)

So imagine my surprise last night when Carter shows me that the entire first batch of Kickstart Guides got returned to me for not enough postage! 🙄

When I saw it I felt like I could cry.

I mean, I know there are bigger problems in the world, but this was discouraging. I thought I had done great. I thought they were on their way to being delivered and could arrive at any time, but actually they were just headed back to me!

After looking at things, it seems that 2 problems had occured:

1st, Haley forgot that she added an extra sheet of paper into the Guides after I sent my “test” Guide. 😏

2nd, the post office told me there was a price increase 2 weeks ago!! And I did my test package 3-4 weeks ago! 🤣

I got them settled this morning and now they should be on their way to their rightful owners with an “additional 27 cents” sticker on them.

Thankfully, my right-hand gal, Kristina recommended we give 2 weeks for the mailing process so they still have a week to get there before we start on Feb 19th!

This is one of the silly discouraging that has happened a long the way of me trying to do this Kickstart, but this kind of stuff happens all of the time… like, All. The. Time.

You know it it's true, because it’s not just me that this happens to. It happens to you, too.

This is because when we seek the Adventure God has for us, problems will be a part of it. Without problems there is no Adventure. If it doesn’t cost anything, then it’s not worth anything.

Your Adventure God has for you will be filled with problems and it is worth persevering through every single one of them in order to discover everything God has for you!!!!
