etc. Please do not send sculptures. We'll also be making a digital zine, so send in songs, podcasts, audio stories, videos, GIFs, whatever we can't put on paper. Just no sculptures. Who's allowed to submit? This is a zine for femme artists and writers. If you comfortably identify as a women, we want to hear from you! Who is Pity Party? Pity Party was created by Molly Bilker, Hattie Jean Hayes, Kim Koerth and Alex Scoville over Moroccan food in January 2016. The foursome are all journalism students at ASU and cry daily, at least. What is a sad girl? Are you a femme who cries over love gone wrong? Struggle with anxiety depression? Generally frustrated with the state of world, especially when it comes to women's rights? You may be a sad girl. What about Sad Girl Theory? Artist Audrey Wollen created Sad Girl Theory in 2013. "I think it's really important to recognise and foster an alternative to the hyper-positive demands of contemporary feminism right now. We've really fixated on loving ourselves - there's this ethos of excess and approval, making it cool and fun to be a girl. The problem is: it isn't really cool and fun to be a girl. It is an experience of brutal alienation and constant fear of violence. All the amazing parts of girlhood (of which there are many) are survival tactics that girls have created in the face of this reality. I want to stand with the girls who are miserable, who don't love their body, who cry on the bus on the way to work. I believe those girls have the power to cause real upheaval, to really change things."
