*(BREAKING) NLC, TUC suspend strike*

The National Executive Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress on Wednesday night suspended the ongoing strike.

The unions said the suspension followed the intervention of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Our correspondent gathered that the meeting which commenced at a few minutes past 7 pm lasted for close to one hour during which various affiliates and state chapters reviewed the outcome of the meeting held between the leaders of the organised labour and Ribadu.

The National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC, Tommy Etim, made this known in an interview with our correspondent in Abuja.

“The NEC of the NLC and the TUC have suspended the strike. We did this based on our trust for the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who gave us his words,” he said.

The PUNCH reports that the labour leaders met with Ribadu alongside the Minister of Labour, Simon Lalong, at the Office of the NSA on Wednesday afternoon.

The NSA had announced that the individuals responsible for the brutalisation of Ajaero had been arrested.

The organised labour is protesting against the alleged brutalisation of its National President, Joe Ajaero, and the failure of the government to implement some of the agreements reached on October 2, 2023 effectively.

Names of prospective Corp members of the University of Uyo whose applications were approved and successfully uploaded to the NYSC portal in the just concluded internal mobilization exercise (November 6–9) will become available on the NYSC website for them to complete the Batch C, 2023, mobilization process from about 3 p.m. on Tuesday November 14, 2023.

Prospective Corp members who are yet to see their names when they search online should search again from 3 p.m. on Tuesday November 14, 2023, and immediately complete the mobilization process, which is scheduled to end on November 16, 2023.

The processes for the University of Uyo 26th, 27th and 28th combined CONVOCATION Ceremony will kickstart tomorrow, Tuesday, 7th November, 2023.

A rundown of records reveals that this will be the First Convocation Ceremony in over Four Years following the COVID-19 Break and ASUU Strike which had detrimental effect on the School Calendar.

In a release by the University Registrar & Secretary to the Senate, Mrs. Blossom Okorie, the Event will commence on Tuesday, 7th November, 2023. But, the Ceremony proper will take place from Thursday, 9th November through Saturday, 11th November, 2023.

RETAKE EXAMINATION BY FINAL YEAR STUDENTS

The Senate of the University at its 128th Meeting held on Wednesday 4 October, 2023 approved that at the end of every academic session (during vacation), starting from the 2022/2023 Academic Session, final year students can retake failed courses and graduate without waiting for one year. However, there shall be neither teaching nor revision exercise prior to the re-take examinations and the re-take examinations shall take place at the same time irrespective of the Semester. Each course to be re-taken shall attract a fee of N10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira only) and half of the sundry charges per Semester or Session.

By this information, Senate decision on the above subject is hereby conveyed to all those concerned and involved.

2023 Admission has been uploaded on CAPS of recent and admission is still in progress.

Also this is the right time to apply for change of course if need be. *DO NOT* wait for supplementary form for this year of Admission.

*DEFERMENT OF ADMISSION*
Deferment of admission takes place in a situation in which a candidate who has been offered admission is unable to take up the admission in that academic year. For deferment of admission to be approved by Senate, the candidate must:

1. have appeared for screening and was found qualified for registration in the Department into which he was offered admission;
2. have formally accepted the admission and paid the Acceptance fee;
3. have one of the following reasons for deferment:
(a) financial constraint
(b) ill-health, in which case, he must submit a Medical Report authenticated by the Director of Health Services of the University.

(c) non-release by employer
(d) family problem
Under no circumstance should a candidate defer admission in order to make up for deficiency in admission requirements.

*UPDATE ON THE ONGOING GST EXAMINATIONS:*

Dear Students,

We would like to reiterate our sincerest apologies for the stress that has been faced during the conduct of the GST examination. We totally relate with you and can assure you that they'd be no such cases of this subsequently.

In line with the announcement made regarding Students who are yet to sit for their GST exams and the call to report to the Annex Campus by 8am tomorrow to sit for this exams, we're pleased to inform the student community that, for those students who are not in town due to the rescheduling of their exams or for some other reason that may hinge on the rescheduling of their exams, the exams would also be conducted on Wednesday, 6th September, 2023 by 8am.

The decision to conduct the exams on Wednesday as well is to afford Students who are away an opportunity to make their way back to campus and prepare for their exams.

Furthermore, all students who are in town are, by this notice, advised to sit for the GST exams tomorrow by 8am at the Annex Campus.

So much thanks to the management for their kind and prompt consideration to the cries of the students.

The proposed 2022/2023 Academic Calendar maybe correct or they'll be adjustment.

It may not be possible to commence the screening by tomorrow 4th Sept, 2023 without *uploading the names of the admitted students on the portal, also open portal* for payment of *Screening Fee* formally known as *"Acceptance Fee"*

*NOTE:* *All Screening Fees Receipt* must be stamp/ signed in Faculty Bursary before the screening officers attend to the freshmen.

So its a process and sometimes not done in one day, the earlier the better.

Hopefully, the portal will be open sooner or later for the payment which the *Portal Team* are currently working on it.

Once you've registered for Post UTME screening and collected your registration slip, kindly visit *Jamb Office or approved CBTs* to upload your O-level result /link your valid email on JAMB portal, you have done your screening.

There's nothing more to do until you're admitted by accepting your admission via CAPS.

*UPDATES FOR FRESHERS*

As we anticipate *Acceptance Fee* payment and official Resumption Date for 2022/2023 Academic Session, note the following;

Freshers (newly Admitted Students) Faculty Screening is not one day exercise, it lasts throughout the semester.

But, It's advisable to do your screening on time, so you can pay your fees, get hostel accommodation for people that want to stay in the hostel.

The hostel won't be open immediately for freshmen at resumption, sometimes it takes up to 4⃣ weeks, so start looking for *temporary accommodation* while waiting.

Acceptance fee payment will come with UNIUYO Notification of Admission ( Uniuyo Admission Letter)

All admitted candidates on Jamb CAPS will be uploaded on the school portal soon.

For people that are getting apartments outside campus, make sure you don't send money to unknown person to arrange accommodation for you.

If possible come in to the town, walk with the agent to the house, make sure you have seen the landlord or person in charge, pay and get your receipt, keys and make enquiry for NEPA light /bill in the compound.
