These are the main directions you will find in Simina Grigoriu’s Kuukou label. Self disclosed as a “techno for techno” establishment, Kuukou’s aim is to cut through the noise of whatevermusic and showcase powerful yet meaningful techno that leaves its mark on the dancefloor. Putting forth productions from various talented artists resonating with this ethos, as well as the label head’s own secret weapons, Kuukou is all about forging its distinct soundprint.

As an extra nod to their connection, Simina and Giulia share the same birthday, May 8th, which is reflected in the track title ‘0805’.

Out Now! ‘Rough Ready’ follows up with another nails kick drum that tumbles like a stone under a groove-laden stab and gently twisting pads. Robotic vocals and bright, fizzing rides generate momentum across a highly effective DJ tool thats sits right at a rolling boil throughout.

Out Now! ‘Funkturm‘ follows up with a clinic in atmospherics. Micro FX are carefully crafted, each given a life all of their own and beautifully melded together into a vibrant collage that circles the plug hole without ever fulling sinking. The result is a deeply effective DJ tool for energy levels up and dance floors dialled in.

Out Now! ‘Midnight Echo‘ fires things up with some immaculate sound design and an immediately infectious groove. Each and every sound is deftly carved into it’s own pocket and each drum artfully plotted to generate a raw, kinetic energy; a hypnotic sense of motion that works to ferry the listener into a sweet spot between rushing and dreaming.

Out Now! Deep-set pads, stormy atmospherics and tessellating loops work to form a chilly and magnetic groove that carries enough force to make a mark at the warm up, the zenith of the night or the afters.

Out Now! ‘Tension’ closes things up with a clinic in energy and atmospherics. Very few elements are neatly honed for maximum impact as drums tumble in unison gathering impetus as they roll. Spacious reverbs and panned delays generate a vast and chilly space for the drums to criss-cross and interlock in while another focal stab acts as a hook for the floor.
