Our Story
DXPR 88.3 FM radio station of the 4th Civil Relations Group, Civil Relations Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (4CRG,CRSAFP) started operating in October 2012 as an FM station manned by 4CRG personnel under its former Group Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Erwin A Alea, General Staff Corps, Philippine Army. Located at WESMINCOMโs gymnasium in Upper Calarian, Zamboanga City, the station is equipped with a Mobile Broadcast Radio System (MRBS) donated by the Military Information Support Team, Joint Special Operations Task Force Zamboanga โ Philippines (MIST, JSOTF โ P) under Captain Dane Macon Hughes which is capable of transferring, operating and airing programs outside the stationโs premises, allowing DXPR to explore and widen its target audience and scope. With a frequency of 88.3, the station ran radio plugs promoting Information Support Affairs (ISA). From 4CRG compound, DXPRโs radio system was transferred to the studioโs current location site, previously the defunct Southern Command AM radio station which was inaugurated on 10 September 2005 by then Secretary of National Defense Avelino J Cruz Jr at the time of SOUTHCOM Commander, Lieutenant General Alberto Fernando F Braganza Armed Forces of the Philippines. Unlike other community radio stations, DXPRโs primary goal is to promote the goals, aspirations and accomplishments of the national and local government units, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and other sectors. The station also functions as the AFPโs primary medium of public interaction and accessibility. Commander, Western Mindanao Command, Lieutenant General Rustico O Guerrero Armed Forces of the Philippines initiated the expansion and reactivation of DXPR 88.3 FM radio station to widen the stationโs coverage and enhance its technical capacity, resources and function. On 08 June 2016, Major Jerome V Cabigon (Infantry) Philippine Army, Group Commander 4CRG, CRSAFP renewed the permit to operate of DXPR at the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to resume its operations for the next three years. During the renewal process it was discovered that the DXPR call sign was already taken by some other private radio station located somewhere in Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte. As per advice of the NTC, DXPR 88.3 FM changed its call sign to DXWC 88.3 FM. With its renewed permit to operate, DXWC 88.3 FM will continue to perform its role in relation to WESMINCOMโs mission in Western Mindanao.
