Fifty Fathoms was set up in 2010. We are a boutique label, producing drama for British and international broadcasters. At Fifty Fathoms, we create an environment in which a writer can deliver their boldest work; and we will do whatever it takes to champion and protect the uniqueness of their vision. We are developing projects for the BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Sky; and we have a Key Supplier Development Deal to develop further series for Sky Atlantic. Our debut production MARVELLOUS, a 90′ single film written by Peter Bowker, directed by Julian Farino and starring Toby Jones and Gemma Jones, was broadcast on BBC2 on 25th September 2014 and repeated on Christmas Day. Next up is FORTITUDE. Written by Simon Donald, FORTITUDE is a 12 x 60’ crime thriller set in the Arctic Circle for Sky Atlantic and Pivot, directed by Sam Miller, Richard Laxton, Hettie MacDonald and Nick Hurran, starring Sofie Grabol, Stanley Tucci, Michael Gambon, Richard Dormer, Chris Ecclestone, Luke Treadaway, Jessica Raine, Veronica Echegui, Nicholas Pinnock and Johnny Harris. FORTITUDE will transmit on Thursday 29th January at 9pm on Sky Atlantic in the UK and 10pm ET on Pivot TV in the USA. Fortitude will also be the first Sky original programme to premiere simultaneously across the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy on Thursday 29th January. Our most recent commission, THE A WORD, is a 6 x 1 hour drama for BBC1 developed and written by Peter Bowker. THE A WORD will commence filming in the summer with an anticipated TX date of Spring 2016. Fifty Fathoms sits under the umbrella of Tiger Aspect and Endemol.
