2017: we turn International in Los Angeles.
2018: 2nd annual year in L.A.

2020: We'll screen on the Champs Elysees, Paris, France. We had in our selections music videos featuring Adèle, Macy Gray, Vanessa Paradis, and many more.

"Dance You Are Alive" is a fusion of Dance, Music, Animation, and Lego — into a single, transformative Music Video. Thanks to my late uncle, who used to get me valuable cartoon cassettes at a time when we couldn't access or afford them. Drawing inspiration from these childhood cartoons and their imparted life wisdom, this project signifies a personal dream realised.

Despite moments of disillusionment in my career upon recognizing commercial animation's toy-centric focus, childhood memories of impactful cartoons propelled me forward. They showcased the potential to sow seeds of positive change in young minds and motivate a brighter future.

In 'Dance You Are Alive,' I aspire to ignite inspiration for the freedom of choice we all have to empower innate peace within us. Harnessing the influence of uplifting messages, this video aims to leave a lasting imprint, fostering hope for a better tomorrow.

John is a cast member of the EMMY Award-winning “Bob’s Burgers” as matriarch Linda Belcher which landed him first EMMY nod in the category of “Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance”.
In 2017 Blondie tapped him to drop some lyrical fire on “Love Level” from their critically acclaimed chart-topper Pollinator. "Looking," a wild anthem produced by Big Black Delta, followed in 2019, marked his solo debut with remixes by Tensnake and Gerd Janson. The song—which landed at #19 on UK club charts--along with “Dirty Little Secrets” In 2022 Roberts released a full album of club bangers with legendary DJ Junior Sanchez featuring Beth Ditto and Debbie Harry as well as remixes by Harry Romero and Felix da Housecat.

John’s first release of 2023 is a return to pop with his single “Danger” a moody mid-tempo 80’s esq bop produced by Junior Sanchez offers an exciting musical landscape filled with pulsating sounds and throbbing rhythm as well as Roberts vibrant and signature vocal style that brings the music to life.

Dios por Santo Inspired by Philippine folklore and the mythic tale of the ‘duende’, “Dios Por Santo” is the band’s first single for 2022 since their critically-acclaimed EP, “The Purpose of the Moon” in 2020. Comprised of over 500 digitally-painted images by Maxine Syjuco, the video is a stop-motion debut film created meticulously and solely in the artist’s bedroom within the confines of the pandemic. Intricately-layered with dark imagery and haunting symbolisms, “Dios Por Santo” is a poetic narrative that uniquely combines experimental music with spoken word poetry, cultural heritage, digital art and video.

Yes, we offer a real, monthly screening in California: - each call opens the first day of the month - each screening takes place the last day of the month - we screen with a HD file - you never wait more than 29 days to know you final status

ANNUAL Submit any time to an annual category to be considered for the annual competition and screening. 2020: will be on the Champs-Elysees in Paris, France.

RULE-SETTER & TREND-MAKER The IMVU is a rule-setter for Music Video festival. We were the first festival to create the best director, cinematographer, editor categories for our monthly and annual competitions. Now, all music video festivals do the same. We were the first to launch a student category: now, all music video festivals do the same. We were the first international festival to travel accross the ocean for screenings. We were among the firsts to promote Music Videos before the Music Video festivals became a market, before it became a niche, before it became a business. We still are independent, transparent, and underground: our call really is open and made for rising bands, independent solo artists, creative musicians without a label, videomakers with a vision. Our selection for more than 4 years and 30 months shows our work, what we achieved, the bands and artists we supported and promoted. Yes, we also selected famous artists, and artitsts signed with labels and record companies. Because we do not want to exclude people on the path of success: we want to support artits on this path. The only thing is: your Music Video has to be good. Artistic. Inspiring. Well executed. Visual. Creative… If you feel you are making things happen, then just give us what you got.

FAMOUS ARTISTS Adèle, Septicflesh, Macy Gray, Indochine, Mystery Skull, Vanessa Paradis, Helly Luv... They all submitted to us. We selected and screened Music Videos starring Joshua Jackson, Danny Trejo, Keira Knightley, Ethan Peck... We have a Cult Classic section in which we screened David Bowie, Macklemore, Bob Dylan, The Animals, Prince, Noir Désir, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Cranberries, Daft Punk...

OUR MISSION A competition festival exclusively focused on music videos, dance films, animated music videos, and other special stuff made of music and video. We select Music Videos and dance movies from all over the world and we screen them to give young artists both sides of the camera an opportunity to be noticed for their talents

You have music, you have images, and it's not a film? We want it. It's bizarre or borderline ? Submit to Best Special Stuff and we will consider you with an open mind.

We are looking for all sorts of music videos. We are named the International Music Video Underground. International means we accept videos from everywhere. Music means we love music. Video means you can do anything mixing images with music. Underground means we are looking for fun, for ideas, for engaged artists, not only big budget productions. It also means we are approachable.
