Hey, Apex -- renovations are underway at the Peak City Podcast! In the meantime, here's our TBT to last week, when we were invited to attend RXR's grand opening for Veridea’s welcome center in (do our name tags count as press passes?). RXR Realty revealed the first renderings of the 1,100-acre mixed-use development that includes space for shops, restaurants, an elementary school, and an additional campus for Wake Technical Community College, among other features.

Check out the photos below! We've also got video of Wake Technical Community College president Dr. Scott Ralls outlining the opportunity for the college to house its business and entrepreneurship programs at the site, and also relocate its nationally unique Simulation and Game Development (SGD) program to the Peak City!

RXR begins Phase I of development with new roadways, infrastructure, and utilities in the fall, before work begins on multifamily units in early 2025.

Want more? Check out our podcast from late last year with RXR executive vice president Joseph Graziose, Sr.: https://www.peakcitypodcast.com/podcast/episode/90e7b517/veridea-projects-joseph-graziose-sr-with-heather-taylor-and-nick-bryant

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our town's beloved "Kevin the Peacock," who brought joy -- and sometimes a high-pitched, prehistoric-sounding scream -- to all who encountered him. 💗

Is still a thing? We're gonna pretend it is. If you missed it, check out our episode about Veridea with Joseph Graziose Sr., executive vice president for residential development and construction at RXR Realty, who is leading the project.

It's an ambitious, $3B mixed-use development that will break ground in 2024 on more than 1,000 acres along Highway 55, south of downtown Apex -- with approximately 1,000 apartments, 1,100 homes, and thousands of square feet for retail, restaurants, and office space, as well as a new Wake County elementary school and a Wake Technical Community College satellite campus:

We launched the Peak City Podcast in 2016 because Apex is a news desert. It can't replace the value that a daily (or weekly) news publication offers, but our community deserves *at least* info about candidates running for local office. If you're seeking candidate info before heading to the polls today, check out our candidate interview series at https://www.peakcitypodcast.com/podcast
